But it's kind of a weird season in that sense.

I am against mortgaging the future and going all in because, even if they do, they:
1) have little to no playoff experience, and
2) can have the whole season derailed if Rittich gets hurt.

And that begs the question: should they upgrade in net? Well the problem with that is that, in all likelihood, any backup that is acquired has little to no impact on the team and their fortunes.

It's a tricky scenario from the GM's perspective. Personally, I don't want to see them mortgage the future for this season. I would rather just enjoy the team as is, and see how far they can go.

Way I see it, Smith needs to be replaced for next season anyway, therefore any aquisition in goal should be to help for next season and beyond as well. Darcy Kuemper comes to mind as a good 1b with another year at 2.5m. Don't seebus having the money or need to ho after Bob, maybe talbot fits but unlikely he gets traded here.

Frolik, Czarnik, 1st, Shillington

for

Stone, Borowiecki

Smith, Stone, Mangiapane,

for

Allen, Maroon, Bortuzzo

Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Backlund-Stone
Bennett-Jankowski-Neal
Maroon-Ryan-Hathaway

Giordano-Brodie
Hanifin-Hamonic
Borowiecki-Andersson

Rittich
Allen

At the draft trade Brodie to TO for a 1st + prospect, move up andersson, try to sign stone

Making so many roster changes on a 2nd overall team seems like suicide.

Chemistry is HUGE. The Gio/Brodie pair is elite... trading half your top pair would be so dumb.

I was listening to TSN 1260 in Edmonton and heard LoweTide mention MacT is scouting the Stockton Heat. LoweTide speculated MacT was scouting Curtis Lazar and that he would be an Oiler before the trade deadline. What do people think the Oilers would give up for Lazar?

I wonder if the Flames could get a 2nd round pick? That would be awesome.

Yes please. I’d do this deal yesterday. I’d personally drive Lazar up to Edmonton myself for that offer.

Realistically though, it’d be a low pick, so I’m not sure it’s worth it to try to help the Oilers out at all unless they’re over paying.

Even the Oil won’t be giving a 2nd for Lazer.

Who's giving up a 2nd round pick for Lazar? 5th round pick at best.

Wait, weren't the oiler's farm club just playing the heat?

Perhaps they were just keeping an eye on their own prospects, amd who to trade for more 7th dmen?

Stone isn't playing, Czarnik hardley plays, Frolik wants out, Smith is hot garbage, mangiapane is an ahler. Kylington is a rookie

I don't see how moving that out messes up any chemistry

I think we've seen that Gio makes whoever he plays with a much better player. Sell Brodie while he's high and not have to lose him or Hams at the draft for free

I've tried to address all our "problems". (I mean we are second after all)

We need a decent second goalie (Allen)
We need more size and physicality (Maroon)
We need the second line to be more of a threat. (Stone)
Cheap left side and right side veteran d depth, while moving out Stone's contract (Bortuzzo, Borowiecki)

And yet you think you're going to get: Stone, Borowiecki, Allen, Maroon and Botuzzo for them

Didn’t people make the same claim at the end of last season with Hamilton and they were lining up in attempts to punt Brodie out of town?
