Since when was Muzzin a coveted player?

No clue, I was at the game so I didn’t see the reaction, but it’s hard to give the benefit of a doubt to a guy that lets in a garbage goal each and every game. Smith is all out of credit with this fan base and he has no one to blame but himself.

Muzzin's a pretty dang good defenseman and will certainly be a coveted player. But the Flames don't need him at all and to trade Brodie for him would be nonsensical.

Same caller then goes on to say how the second line hasn’t been producing for a long time. Pat then gives him the stats of great production they have had the last 8-10 games. Like I said, some people(the caller) don’t even watch the game.

Is there anyone *really* "defending this guy"? Or do you have some people simply tired of the barrage of negativity on every goal. Goal is tipped by Gio three feet in front.. "Smith let us right back down".
|
That's where I'm at as well. If Smith let's in a softie, rip him. Do I want him traded for an upgrade? Yep.
But the GTs now are just insufferable at times now when he plays. I want to participate to discuss the game, not hear about how certain posters want us all to know how every single goal against the Flames is somehow Smith's fault.
Smith follows the shooter on a breakaway.......NOBODY picks up Larkin wide open in front. And somehow it's Smith's fault. I mean, it's craziness.
Yes, the guy has not played well this year. Yes, he's let in some really terrible goals. Yes, some of the goals he lets in are directly his fault. Yes, a lot of us want that position to be upgraded somehow. But believe it or not, not every single goal that gets scored on Smith is all his fault.

My bigger issue with Smith was him leaving the net to play the puck in a one goal game with under 2 minutes left. What are you doing guy?

Even if Smith hadn't strayed too far to his right, which is still debatable, I don't think he's got a shot at Larkin's goal, frankly. That goal is at least 75% on Gio and Brody. The Green backhand has saveable, but also a pretty darn good shot. Of Johnny scores that one we aren't saying the goalie blew it, we are cheering how he danced a Dman and potted a backhand.
I think this was what you expect from a backup. A chance to win. Heck, the same has been said about Rittich in a few of his games. The NY game for instance.

7... That's how many points the Flames trail Tampa by. It's also how many points the Flames are ahead of Vegas.

I don't think so. Modern goalies are way better athletes, are much larger and faster.
I don't think it matters what equipment you give them, modern defence will also help minimize shots.

Neal meant to heel that to Bennett. Great games from those two.
Smith held the line late, but no game is safe with him unless they score at least 5, and that's not tenable. I'd do a Howard/Smith swap.
Hot take: if you score a shorthanded goal, you should get your player back.

Muzzin made the has a Stanley Cup and made the World Cup. Not because he sucks.
I would trade for Muzzin if they lost Brodie to a season ending injury, but I wouldn't trade Brodie for Muzzin. That's a lateral move at best.

Eh, I wouldn't sweat it. Nobody whose opinion directly impacts the Calgary Flames (ie. Calgary Flames personnel) actually believes that every single goal is Smith's fault.

For sure, just speaking as a CP poster who wants to enjoy discussing the game in the GTs, good or bad. It's been such a great year we should be enjoying it rather than being told how terrible Smith is after every goal even when it's not his fault.
