I'd really like Howard as a 1b/backup and any viewings of him I've had have only confirmed this.

Neal can't even elevate the puck for 25 feet on a shot not enough power.

I think he might've been shooting low for a possible rebound.

Pass behind him slightly off balance, not sure man players would get much on it.

Hrudey giving him credit for the simplest of accomplishments.

People are complaining about the second goal on Smith that was deflected twice - seems to me Neal was coasting around the goal scorer.

Yup. As bad as the Oilers are, the Flames will have to be ready right off the hop tomorrow. That garbage team always gets up to play the Flames...except for that game back in November when the Flames went all Harlem Globetrotter on them in the 3rd period.

Rittich doesn’t give up the type of softies Smith does though, that’s the problem. Rittich also plays against the tougher opponents, so a comparison wouldn’t even be apt.

You’re correct though, winning is everything. But what happens if for whatever reason, Smith has to start in the playoffs and he’s facing the Scheifele’s and the Seguin’s and the Kucherov’s the world and they’re blasting pucks through his arms all day long.

There has to be some intellectual honesty and fact is, Smith has been one of the worst goaltenders in the league this year and is does not inspire much confidence with his play. To be fair, he’s playing better today and the last game, but to me, he has one month to prove he can stop giving up the softies before I’d ship him out.
