The last game of the season is Oilers at Flames on April 6.
It would really be a shame if the Oil traded a bunch of futures to try and make the playoffs, and we were the ones to officially shut the door on them. The Chiadenfreude would be delicious.

No. No it would not.
If that was the 'make or break' game and we were comfortably in the playoffs and they had to win it I'd hope that we'd crush their throats.
"Calgary cost us the playoffs!!!!!!"
Yeah. Like it would be our fault. That one game out of 82. Hell, the last time they even qualified for the playoffs was our (read: Gulutzan's) fault.
The last time the Edmonton Oilers made the playoffs was a gift from Calgary.

LOL at people worried about our former GM. The guy who wrote one or two articles for the Hockey News in his 5 year hiatus after Tampa, and hasn't done anything else since.
There's a reason he was hands off at the draft, he had no idea what he was doing at a draft table. He was a slick salesman that hoodwinked Murray Edwards into a job, first as assistant, then the full time gig, by saying what he wanted to hear, such as giving him and King full transparency, as of course Darryl did his own thing and that drove Edwards up the wall.
Once he got the job, he leveraged his relationship hard on getting Richards. Trades like Cammalleri fell in his lap. If it wasn't clear to Edwards that they had a dud on their hand who really didn't have any friends or solid contacts in the league the ROR thing was the final straw. They couldn't fire him because they needed someone two months later to trade Iginla, and he botched that by ripping the player and the agent and other players and agents took note. His return for Bouwmeester was terrible too. Trading Regher like garbage to take the run at Richards. Sending Conny to the minors with no notice. Agau, people took notice.
Only good thing it got was Edwards realizing how grave a mistake he made and trying to fix it asap as he saw the Flames behind the scenes reputation sinking in the toilet after these events, which got us Burke to pull the reputation out of the toliet (after Shanahan) and Treliving from there.
That former GM would be exactly though what Lowe would want. McTavish would seem too much of a nod to the late 2000s for the public consumption and optics.
Bring in an external guy who will basically take his lead from Lowe, while being enough of a slick talker to fans and media to deflect the criticism and put a positive, yet totally phony and unsubstantial actions behind those words.

Does everyone forget that we're talking about THIS guy?
He was the general manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning for six years, during which he was named the NHL's executive of the year by The Sporting News in 2004 after guiding the Lightning to their first Stanley Cup championship.

Reality is hitting some Oiler fans of HF very hard. That sinking feeling in your stomach that tells you that your neighbour to the south is going to be better than you for a very long time. Edmonton will be forever no good

I’m shocked that they haven’t banned the user and deleted his posts.

What's hilarious is that one oiler fan in that thread talks about MT and his 21% shooting percentage and that he's going to get paid, while ignorning Chiasson and the fact that MT is a RFA.

That poster is one of the oil's most adamant defenders over the last 6-7 years. That alone should show the depth of that forum's despair right now. I'm not even allowed there anymore
This is their playoff picture thread. Suddenly they have a 2 game "win streak" and they think they can upset the Flames because of how big and phsyical they are. Oilers fans have no shame.

It sounds completely irrational and illogical but i'm most scared of the Flames facing the Oilers and Canucks in the first round. Not because they are any good but just because it is them.
Things rarely ever go to script when the Flames play them. Especially between Vancouver and Calgary, the underdog always seems to win and the Canucks would clearly be the underdog this season. As for Edmonton, they always seem to get the better of Calgary in the playoffs.
I'd rather they both just miss the playoffs.

They also choose to ignore that Neon Leon is posting a career high shooting percentage of 19.8% when making assertions of sustainability.

For whenever anybody thinks that they should start feeling sorry for Oilers' fans.
