Am I reading this right?

More or less.
I'd say the two best options they've had this year have been Frolik 1st and Bennett 2nd.
And Frolik has a bigger drop off without being on the second line than Bennett does.
So your point about disparity between playing with Tkachuk and not playing with Tkachuk is considerably bigger for Frolik than that for Bennett.

The 2nd line is better with Frolik then it is with Bennett.
The 3rd line is better with Bennett than it is with Frolik.
The way this roster is set up it just needs Bennett to help anchor and be a driver on the 3rd line, opposed to being more of a passenger on line 2. Bennett is better as a line driver, Frolik is better as a line support piece. Think it's simple as that.
Look at Neal with or without Bennett.
Neal + Bennett:
186 Minutes
52.66% CF
60.29% HDCF
Neal w/o Bennett:
401 Minutes
49.59% CF
44.37% HDCF
|
This is 100% where I am now too.
Bennett drives the third line quite well compared to other options. Frolik seems to get more done (finish, not chance creation) on the second line.
All points count, but this is a different analysis a week ago before Frolik puts up five points in two games.

Nathan Beaulieu made a trade request to the Sabres management. Not playing much and it’s a contract year.

Would be a perfect fit here to be honest. Good 6 and is scrappy. I like how Kylington is playing but having Beaulieu and Stone as 6 and 7 we would be great.
Wouldnt give up more than a third and a minor leauger though.

Yup that is perfect untill Mark Stone can get back in the line up. Then have them as your 5/6/7 Defenseman (what ever you want to call it)
But he would be a perfect fit for this team

Is Beaulieu any better than Kulak? Would be kind of funny to spend a draft pick after giving Kulak away. I think we could survive without giving away a draft pick for a fringe depth guy. Most I would trade for Beaulieu is Czarnik or Lazar.

I’d do a 1st for both
Joke blockbuster with Detroit for all needs
1st + Czarnik + Stone + Smith + Frolik for Nyquist + Howard + Kronwall
Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Backlund - Nyqvist
Bennett - Jankowski - Neal
Mangiapane - Ryan - Hathaway
Lazar
Giordano - Brodie
Hanifin - Hamonic
Kronwall - Andersson
Kylington/Valimaki/Prout
Rittich
Howard

Brooks saying the Rangers want Adam Fox's rights from Carolina (who he says are interested in Zuccarelo).

Would be something if the Canes traded Ferland, Hamilton, and Fox at the deadline

I'm sure Detroit will be jumping at the chance to trade two of their most valuable players for our peanuts and a late 20s pick.
I admire the spirit though.

Yes, but we know they are probably looking at Zack Smith again.

I remember Feaster talking about the decision to draft Baertschi (back when he was thought of as the 2nd coming). He said they were going to take a blueliner and changed their mind, who was taken a few spots later if i recall the wording which would be Beaulieu. I would think our scouts still have a favourable view of Beaulieu.

Not a chance I would give up Czarnik for Beaulieu... that seems crazy. I wouldn't trade Lazar for him either, more like a 3rd round pick and maybe a depth guy from Stockton.

Really? I’d give up Lazar quite easily. Maybe he gets more of an opportunity with Buffalo.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Who was the bruiser on the Flames that beat up Beaulieu last year? Was that Lazar?

Once Stone and Valimaki come back I don't think we have a real need to add a depth dman, imo. I think Lazar deserves at least another call up, even if it isn't until next season. I think it's possible that Lazar is better than what we saw under Gulutzan. Stockton HC speaks pretty highly of him, maybe a stint in Stockton is just what he needed.
