The last couple weeks have been abysmal, with the only highlights being the call in guests. Like really really bad.

While I'm off on a rant - what's with all the Smith apologists on the Fan? Is there some Sportsnet mandate you can't talk ill of the local players? Edm does the same thing. There have been people on CP for months who were happy to give Smith a chance, but have been concerned for almost a calendar year. Between injury, age, and reduced equipment, the man is an unmitigated disaster. No, I don't feel bad about his feelings - he gets 5 million dollars to take fan abuse.

WTF is with all the "he needs to find his game". He's 36. It's over. It's been over for a while now. Where are the sports journalists in Calgary?

Pinder may be a sanctimonious ass, but at least he's willing to call it what it is. Which is why he's so desperately missed in the morning. At least Rhett and Boomer would call him out on being a dick - Steinberg is as much of a wimp as Klein is, so just gets railroaded.

They really lost a lot by breaking up the morning show dynamic. To hear they're going to replace the "brains" (such as it was) of that operation with Peter Klein... yikes.

I actually quite enjoyed stumbling upon it. He’s not wrong.

I listened for 15 minutes today. They had Fleury on... he yawned
through the entire segment. It was just a perfect fit for the Fan960.

Then I shut it off.

I don’t blame Fleury either.

I’m sure they gave him an hour or two heads up at most because it’s not like they take pride in flying by the seat of their pants.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing with Fleury. At first I thought maybe it just sounded like a yawn as he moved away from the phone or something. Then it happened again, and again, and again. Probably ten yawns in 10 minutes. What the hell, did they wake him from a mid-day nap or something?!

All this just after Pinder called Steinberg out for never having a strong opinion...sitting on the fence all the time, which is true, but it made for kind of an awkward couple minutes airtime. Steinberg sounded legit pissed about it.

This station needs to tank, blow it up and start fresh. Hopefully that's what's in the works.

Unfortunately for them, there is no entry draft for broadcasters. They have to compete with everyone else in the business for talent… which is why they're in this mess to begin with.

I wouldn't want to be the HR person trying to hire new on-air personalities.

To be fair, the last half of December and last week were abysmal. It truly was terrible. The usual crew were on vacation and I think the B-crew were all drunk on air.

It took a while for Pinder to settle in, so I expect the same from the new members.

I was listening at the same time. I didn’t really mind the Steinberg-Pinder bickering. It certainly highlighted their differences. Pinder claiming his “hot takes” make for good radio and claims Steinberg is more cautious. With the implication being that Steinberg is not good radio.

Frankly those two and Loubardias are my favorite parts of the station.

Fleury yawning was just weird. Sucks for them as you have a A list guest (for Calgary) and that’s what he gives you.

I love Fleury and the Flames continue to do a disservice to their fans by not honoring him. But man, that was rude.
