If you really want to stir things up, the target for a grassroots campaign is Katz.
Encourage fans to demand that Katz sell the team.
This is the opposite of what we should do. If we are writing letters, they should be in defense of Chia.
I do think the narrative that when Chia was hired the team was loaded with talent on the verge of success and then he pissed it all away is a bit rich. When Chia was hired, they had just missed the playoffs for a decade, they had drafted incredibly poorly and ruined almost every decent prospect they brought to town. They had a culture of losing that was explained by Ference where they made fun of anyone who put effort in at practice and stayed out partying every night until 5 AM. The players knew they could get any coach fired and they didn't mind losing.
Chia inherited a mess, but for one year, he was able to give everyone in Edmonton some hope and to do that he had to mortgage the future. Now, the Oilers are back to what they were for the decade before he arrived. At least he gave them one good season which is more than anyone was able to do before he got there.
They played last night at home and his birthday is today.
If Spittin Chiclets has taught me anything its that the team went out and he got trashed after the game.
Well they got trashed during the game and live in a city full of trash; only to get ttrashed after the game... He is in another type of generation, a generation of trash.
I get that these guys have lives. But this is a bad look for a Skills Comp day, the day for the fans/kids, and you’re the only beacon of happiness they have this season.
But at least stay indoors if you’re gonna bail...

I get that they're just little kids and they don't know any better, but they're still tiny Oiler fans and they have to learn sometime that their team is a constant disappointment.
They're like little kids who throw around hate speech they obviously picked up at home. I pity them because they were raised by apes, but I certainly don't sympathize.

Well.... I personally find that thought pattern excessive.

Whether I sympathize with them or not doesn't affect what happened. This is SOP for the Oilers, and I fully expect them to cover for McSaviour rather than hold him accountable. I can only hope the fans big and small learn something from the experience.
