This is from the opening post of the Oilers PGT thread:
Quote:
This team hasn't played a good game in weeks. We've got some wins off the backs of great individual efforts, but otherwise this team has been trash since early December.
|
I saw that, and my thought was "December? Of what year? 2000? 1995? 1991?"

Smyth was traded away in 2007.
I know Oiler fans are bad at math & great at revisionist history, but one would think Ryan’s airport tears would be something to remember.

Why in the hell do I still have after hours on in the background.
Nurse dosen't seem too broken up over the losses.

Playing 30 minutes a night he deserved a 6x6, if only they had the room for it.

It certainly looks like it, but the Oilers don't have a tank mode, and never have. This the Oilers firing on all cylinders and their attempt at a "cup run".

Oh Ken, Ken, Ken... you thought you could solve the Oilers with a system and some hardball. I guess you do lose your marbles a bit with age.

watched the last 2 minutes of the Oilers game and they pull their goalie and the announcer says " watch out, the Oilers scored with 8 seconds to go against Florida" and my son who is 10 looks at me and says " why would he say that, picks one game where they score late" . "how many games did they not score and lose". He is only 10 but he clearly knows edmonton is NG. smart guy

Looks and results are one in the same, absolutely. But I guarantee you this is them going Bs to the W, none of this so called tanking.

Some Stats.
The Oilers are on track for 82 points on the season. To put it in perspective, last years team had 78 points. This team is weaker personal wise, so it looks to me like they're massively over achieving. Oiler fans should be proud.
Even to hit the 88 point barrier that the last wild card team is trending to, the oilers would need 21 wins in their last 37 games or a record of 22-15 because they are actully trailing everyone in ROW. That's a .595 winning percentage.
They could also be trailing 2 teams in the wild card race if Vancouver wins tomorrow night. That makes it tougher.
