Looks like the experiment of Drai centering his own line is already done after one period - back up with McLottoballs. And as I type this Russel score FML.

THIS, it boggles my mind how many people like them for some reason...

"best expansion team ever!"

no ####, they had by far the best expansion rules and a city every player wants to go to. GM actually fumbled it, they could have an even better team this season and moving forward

Man, this is some bad hockey. Both of these teams are awful.

The contract that was almost deserved by Glencross, I always kind of looked at them in the same light.

Really? We’re still salty over the knights expansion draft, the one where everyone made fun of them for choosing a bunch of mostly outcasts?

Ottawa has been outplaying the Sharks but Pavelski makes it 1-0 late in the 2nd.

Nice to see Garland back on the bench at the end of the 2nd period.

Can't speak for anyone else...I am salty they have had two years in the league that have been as good as any Calgary has had in nearly 30 years. Especially since they are a divisional rival...we already had the California teams dominate for a decade.

And without them we'd be only competing with San Jose right now where an expansion team deserves to be at most middle of the pack

Oh man. The only thing that would have made that funnier is if he yelled; "YOU'RE NOT MY DAD!!", as he skated off.

My definition of outcasts isn't the 11th best player from every team in the league.

Just me but I hate that franchise a lot... Because they got handed an easy expansion with special rules (and exempted from the next expansion draft - really?) because their owner waved a ton of money around. They're like the trust fund kid of NHL teams (or at least making it close with the oilers) . Also a little bit because everybody was fawning all over them when they steamrolled the flames and the rest of the division last year.

They did have the best advantage out of every expansion team in recent history, but you have to give credit to the management and coaches that built a team that is the epitome of being the sum of its parts. I think you could have the same rules again and get totally different results.

My biggest beef was actually allowing teams to trade for "promises" to not select certain players. Trades should always be for tangible returns and not not abstract things like goodwill.

And we'll have another one in our division soon enough

I think it's the model right now... 4 good lines and 3 good pairings is more important than having a couple stars like mcdavid and draisaitl because the plugs can't hook and hold as much. The style of expansion draft came at the perfect time for them. Anyway I think I dislike all our divisional rivals but them a little more than a couple others because they didn't pay their dues.... Get that many like them.

I think you guys will get a good hate on for them too if the flames and them butt heads in the playoffs

The Oilers can't beat anyone in regulation. They play for the tie, even against not good teams.
