City Bus slams into bus shelter, 3 fatalaties in Ottawa

Three people were killed and nearly two dozen injured when an OC Transpo double-decker bus slammed into a bus shelter at Westboro station at the start of Friday afternoon rush hour. The Ottawa Hospital said shortly after 8 p.m. that seven patients were in critical condition and nine in stable condition. Two people died while on the bus, while the other person died standing on the platform.
One witness said the bus hit a patch of ice before crashing into the side of the station.
Certainly hits home for me - I live a few blocks from the station where this occurred. My fiancée and I were receiving messages all yesterday evening to confirm we were okay.
This is very sad news. It can happen anywhere in Canada due to icy roads. Hope the families of those impacted find peace and strength through this tough time.
Be diligent out there folks. Sometimes things are out of our control, but when they are, we have to be careful.
It is another double decker bus from OC Transpo that has been involved in a fatal collision. The previous one was five years ago at a VIA rail crossing. There is no connection between the two events. https://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=130499
