It is the natural cycle of the Edmonton is no good thread, by being so utterly no good, the oilers no goodness seeps into the thread itself and makes the thread no good. However, being a thread on a Flames forum, the no goodness is cancelled out with a quick history lesson about how good Calgary teams are at getting out of being no good than Edmonton teams are and could ever be.

This year's edition is in good shape to be one of the best ever. At 16:11 on 11 January of 2018, the "Edmonton is No Good V: Same Crap, Less Cap" thread comprised only 5,337 posts. We are over 700 posts over even more no-goodness for this year. When the Oilers make inevitable changes to management and sweeping changes to the roster in the Spring and Summer this thread is going to explode.

Obviously, his plan is to become indistinguishable from Ryan Smyth. Then, one day, he'll switch places with Smyth and they'll both get their ultimate wish. Smyth will get to be the captain of the Oilers for life and McDavid won't have to play for the Oilers anymore.

Is the neck-beard a passive realisation on his part that he will never again see a playoff game? Maybe he has given up shaving as a means of clutching onto those distant memories of that one Spring so long ago when he played hockey games in May.
