		| The Ottawa Senators (@Senators) announced today that the club has acquired forward Morgan Klimchuk from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for forward Gabriel Gagne. Klimchuk will be assigned to the Senators' American Hockey League affiliate in Belleville. |
Gagne was the 36th OA pick in the 2015 draft. Scored 20 goals and 5 assists in the AHL last season, but only 9 points in 33 games this season.

Klimchuk put up 2 goals in 13 games with the Marlies since the Leafs acquired him.

Might get some NHL time with the Sens. I hope he can find some success, always had high hopes like I am sure most of us did

Following the same tour and route as Dion Phaneuf is a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for him.

Totally off topic, but Phaneuf has one assist in 38 games. One freaking point.

It took me 3/4 of the game against LA to remember he was (a) a King and (b) in the game.

Saw Gagne a ton here in QC when he played junoirs, never going to really become a real player. Good wrister but he is far too slow and lanky

Colour me surprised that we traded Morgan Klimchuk months ago.

Has Klimchuk been a healthy scratch in the AHL or just injured?
Does seem a bit easier for him to make the Sens but it sucks if he's not even playing in the AHL

This is the big story here. Clearly Leafs doing Klimchuk a favor, as they know of Scorp's reverence for the player.

With Poirier you could see that his demons threw a wrench in his career trajectory, but I wonder what you can blame for Klimchuk? Funny how things turn out...

Inability to be better than Troy Brouwer/Matt Stajan/Freddie Hamilton etc.

Basically, if you aren't good enough to make the bottom 6 of the 2017/2018 Flames, your NHL prospects are not fantastic.

Sens just traded Paul Carey, so Klimchuk might be one of their best AHL forwards. Could definitely see the NHL if they deal Duchene/Stone/Dzingel etc

Exactly. And get this, Freddie hasn't even played a single pro hockey game this season at all and isn't officially playing on any team anywhere right now.
