The only legit D prospect the Flames still have in Stockton is Mattsson I think. So yeah it’s likely pretty ugly (although I think Mattsson has been decent).

And he’s not even Flames property

Check out this article on Matthew Phillips.

Quote:
Phillips is currently riding a 23 points in 23 games streak as a 5’7, 20 yo rookie in the AHL
This really doesn’t happen too often… so how is he doing it?
Quote:
He is very shifty. Very, very shifty.
He is often the first one to a puck and rightfully so. His acceleration is top notch and it’s hard not to notice his little legs moving as fast as they do. Short powerful strides. He needs that extra time in order to not be knocked off the puck right away.
He is also seemingly constantly moving. He is wonderful at noticing spacing in all ends of the ice in order to maximize his ability to capitalize on a loose puck.

That back door set up on the powerplay was really impressive, especially the hesitation fake to freeze the defender and then the vision to find the goal scorer.

Really like these under sized but highly skilled players the Treliving regime takes chances on after the first round:

Kylington, Mangiapane, Dube, Fox, Phillips, Petterson, Zavgorodny.

Always draft for skill, you get a premium on it. You can trade for size and toughness when you have all the skill in the world.

Heat go into the 3rd period tied 4-4 and collapse in the final 2 minutes of the game to lose 7-4.

Quine with a hattrick. Phillips 8 game point streak is snapped.

Gillies 34 saves on 40 shots

Just so we know not to pin the loss on Gillies, as sureLoss mentioned 34 saves on 40 shots in fronof this defence:

Michael Palliota
Andrew Nielsen
AOM
Rob Hamilton
Rinat Valiev
Kevin Tansey

Id think that Gillies did well holding the fort until late in the 3rd.

San Diego also has a few ex Flames in Ben Street and Adam Cracknell, Luke Schenn on D and Jeff Glass in net. Different kind of roster.

I am not blaming any of our goalies for their numbers this year given the D of this squad. The good news is at least they are facing plenty of shots.

The bad news is it's fatiguing to lose that bad all the time and be letting in 5+ goals.

I think there will be a lot of defenders drafted by the Flames come June. Defensive prospects seemed to go from organizational strength to weakness over night.

It happens when your three top d prospects are all up and playing rookie NHL minutes.

Plus we lost Hickey and Fox from our depth recently as well. These guys might have been playing substantial minutes in Stockton.

Yup. It wasn't that long ago we had:

Kulak, Hickey, Andersson, Kylington, and Fox. And we added Valimaki to that mix.

We went from having one of the best collections of D prospects in the league, to having absolutely none (because 4 graduated to the NHL, and one was used to acquire some incredibly valuable assets).

Heat headed to OT with Ontario game tied 5-5

Dube and Quine with 1g+1a
Dube on a 5 game point streak (if you ignore his NHL holiday call up)

Parsons 41 saves on 46 shots

Heat lose to their arch nemesis San Jose 2-1.

Robinson with the only goal. Assists to Lazar and Rychel.

Gillies made 31 saves on 33 shots.

Random question, but not sure where else to put it. Is there a site that shows all of the minor league contracts?

AOM for example, he's just on an AHL contract, correct? Where could I find other players in this situation?

There is this, the Calgary Flames Reserve List.

Adam Ollas Mattsson is no longer listed because his 'sign by date' date expired.

There isn't really a good site that keeps track of AHL/ECHL contracts.

You can go to CapFriendly and see all the players in the minors on NHL deals and then cross reference with https://theahl.com/stats/roster/406/61?league=4. By process of elimination everyone else on the Heat roster is on AHL/ECHL/PTO deals.

Forwards:
NHL deals: Lazar, Foo, Dube, Gawdin, Phillips, Rychel, Pollock, Lomberg, Robinson, Quine, Graovac, Peluso

minor deals: McMurtry, Sabourin*, McCarron*

Defencemen:
NHL deals: Healey, Hogstrom, Taormina, Nielsen, Valiev

minor deals: Paliotta, O'Brien, Hamilton*, Tansey*, Ollas-Mattsson

Goalies:
NHL deals: Parsons, Gillies
minor deals: Faragher*

* indicates PTO
