2007 Colts beat 6th seed Chiefs 23-8 in Indy.
2011 Colts beat 5th seed Chiefs 45-44 in Indy.
3 of these were crushing. Lin Elliot missed field goal and Lake Dawson dropped winning TD. Great offence can't stop the Colts on defence and Priest Holmes only fumble all year. 31-10 half time lead......
I hate Irsay... his stupid team crushes my soul every so often.
Colts will win this game. Probably by a score of 42-41...Chiefs will miss an extra point to lose.
But Colts moneylline...I'll bet enough to win a trip to Vegas out of this.

Yeah, I'm not sure which of these was the most crushing for me. All I can say is that I didn't want the Colts again, and I'm not looking forward to this. I hope we can finally win a game, but I more dread this at this point.

Colts should be taken as a real threat, but it's worth noting that during this 10-1 run they've been on, the best QB they've beaten is either Dak or Deshaun. Mahomes is obviously a few levels above those two. So it's a big step up in competition for the Colts this week. It's kinda strange that the Texans winning run was mostly dismissed, yet the Colts has been used as proof they're a threat, even as both winning runs feature very similar opponents.

Andy Reid is something like 18-3 after a bye week. He's maybe the best game planner in the league when it comes to preparing for opponents. I tend to think the Chiefs will pull off the win this weekend.

Want to get this out of the way early this week in case I forget later:
Colts
Rams
Pats
Saints
I feel like the Patriots are flying under the radar a little too much this year. Just have a feeling they're going to slide their way back into the big game again this year...then again I went 1-3 last week straight up, so what do I know..

Based on play this year I would say that Luck has been the second best QB in the AFC besides Mahomes. So that alone makes the Colts a team that you can't just dismiss.
They have a good offensive line, and a defence that is playing with a lot of Confidence right now too.
There isn't a team in the NFL who can't match up against the Chiefs. But the Colts in particular with their ability to run the ball will be tougher than others. KC actually were okay in two area's, getting sacks and getting turnovers. Largely because they could get leads and make teams throw a lot as they chase the game. The interceptions were the product of a pass rush that forced some bad throws...or players on the Raiders quitting during the play.
If a team can keep running the Chiefs lack of a good Nose Tackle and weak Middle Line Backers can be exposed. So the Colts with a tough O-Line that's allowed few sacks should be able to run at will, and when they need to pass they'll be able to handle the likes of Chris Jones, Dee Ford, and Justin Houston well enough to light up a secondary that isn't very good.
The Colts defence can give up yards at times, but in a cold weather game, I don't know if Mahomes will be able to throw as effectively as he could earlier in the season, and without Kareem Hunt the run game isn't quite as good.

Those are my picks too. The Ravens were a trendy AFC pick last week...and now everyone is on the Chargers.
Fact is that the Ravens didn't push the ball at all for 3 and a half quarters, and the Chargers really didn't do a whole lot on offence. I don't see that type of performance getting it done against New England. As much as every game for the Chargers is a road game and they're very used to it, I think they won't go into New England and win. The Patriots will challenge that defence from the start of the game, and the offence has been sluggish for 3 straight weeks.
I think this would be a much more interesting game if New England wasn't at home. I think it's similar to the Pats and Chiefs game from a couple years back. It likely ends up a 6 or 7 point game due to a last second TD. Chargers might cover...but in typical Philip Rivers fashion it will be through the back door.

Well the Chargers did play the #1 ranked defense in the league last week and they had a very conservative offensive game plan. I doubt they repeat that this week, but it's their defense that makes them dangerous. Offense just needs to be efficient and manage the game well and make a few big plays which with their weapons is a good bet. It's certainly a tough game to pick though.

Is it really a bye week if you still only have 1 week to prepare for you opponant?
He also has been terrible in the playoffs.
But regardless. It will be a shootout without whoever they play and whosoever defense shows up wins.

Yeah I agree, that game was my toughest call, almost went Chargers but in Foxboro I just have this feeling Brady will pull it off.
I can't recall a year so seemingly wide open in the AFC playoffs, going in I could totally envision all 6 playing in the Super Bowl, and a real chance for some new blood in there...which of course is when it'll just end up being the same ol' Patriots getting it done. It's amazing how little you hear about them this year, considering they're a #2 seed..who could be hosting the AFFCG (though I hope your Chiefs get it this weekend)

Brady's playoff stats vs the Chargers:
--58.3 completion percentage
--489 yards
--4 touchdown passes
--6 interceptions
--61.1 QB rating
Not so great.
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has never lost to Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers in his playoff career.
The Patriots are the only team in the NFL that finished the 2018 season undefeated at home.

Doesn't get much easier than that for the Chiefs.
