Johnny Gaudreau leads the league in even-strength points (46). Tied for second is Nikita Kucherov and Connor McDavid (43). Gaudreau is tied with Alex Ovechkin and Jeff Skinner for the most even-strength goals (22).
He has 16 even strength goals in his last 25 games.
Alright, I'll say it...this team isn't picking first overall.

Johnny Hockey, Gelinas Game 6 goal

Delia will eventually learn... Nhl players are smarter and faster than in the AHL. But he's got the skill. Defense should've helped him out there. Johnny was waiting for that...

Summing up 1st period in Hawks game:
Kane fails to cover his check and leaves Gaudreau open to go to net and score...
Later Kane mitigates his lazy coverage and scores to even it up ...
Others: Toews is coasting mode ...no energy seen. Almost was a 2nd CGY goal shortly after their first goal because Toes lolligaggibg in not cover g the middle and they go right to net..
Seabrook...well we won"the go there.
Keith takes shot...blocked ...what else is expected?
We had several shots from the high middle point (blueline) that of course get blocked by their clog..this is because their D and forwards blocks shots and we do not ..
We have up too many shots on goal for a period = 16 ...
Too many free passes allowed right to our net ...they like cutting their C's right across the middle slot..we have no clue how to defend it and the havoc of loose picks in the slit it creates... Too easy for them to get chances off this.. we do not clog well.

And we botch a 2 on 1...again!
Score should be 8-3 CGY ...looks like Delia's heavy workload going to waste al ..

No, please no. It's hard enough to watch my son wear a Flames Jersey because I live in Calgary. I couldn't handle a Flames Stanley Cup living in this town. Honestly, I don't think we have any worries of that happening.
Quote:
Nah.
They'll be lucky to get out of the first round (again). The physicality ramps up and Moanahan and Johnny Shakey disappear. As I said a few days ago, in the regular season, everyone lets Shakey razzle-dazzle, but different story come playoffs (see Anaheim in 2015 and 2017) They have a bunch of pretend tough guys like Bennett, Tkachuck & Hathaway...none of them really scare anyone. I still think Vegas eventually passes them and takes the division. They'll play the Sharks and the Sharks will take them out in 6 at the most.

Can't believe no TV analyst has the balls to call Gaudreau the best player in the NHL right now. Cuz he is losers!!!!
Credit where credit is due: TSN anchor Nabil Karim called Gaudreau the favourite for the Hart trophy and Jamie Mclennan agreed with him. First two I have heard... awesome
We haven't had a PPG player like him in a while... and have we ever had 3 following closely behind?
Rittich was great in the 2nd, but the book is out to shoot corners. Will be interesting to see how he learns from tonight, as outside of those he was solid. Those are goals we'd roast Smith for though (and did), so this is a huge test for him as a starter.
Having Chicago's number is a very good feeling.

I think you'll find that Press Level is referring to the 30 years since 1989. There was no ‘major suck’ before that. In the 80s, the Flames were actually well above average in playoff performance. They made the semifinals three times, the Cup finals twice, and were one of only four teams to win it all in that decade.

Hawks look like their scouting report on BSD was to go high shoulder from tough angles.
And they scored 2 doing it.
That needs to be corrected asap.
I too identified this as a possible book, but his posture looks like it gives him a better ability to slide across the net without giving up the five-hole if the player decides to cut across. Maybe it's actually correct to play this way, and force the shooters to make a tougher shot? He might actually be playing the percentages correctly here. Then again, he might not.

Even more surprising was that TSN showed the Flames highlights BEFORE the Leafs tonight. That almost never happens. Good times for this team right now.
I've noticed that with the latest changes to goalie equipment, the five-hole has once again become a bit of a vulnerable spot. I think you're right about Rittich's posture.
Excellent. Please help me understand what you have noticed about the latest changes and their impact on five hole as more vulnerable.
Pad height rule change was 2011. Pants Feb 2017. Chest protectors this year.
I am so interested. Maybe point out some specific goalies and feel free to grab some YouTube highlights. You are on to something very interesting.
