Is UFA to be, Kevin Hayes worth a 1st despite some inconsistency and nagging injuries? I believe there would need to be some salary or Neal going the other way.

If a trade of Kevin Hayes for a 1st happened today, the Flames would need to move out at least 2.2 million to fit him in.

Frankly, I don't think any pending UFA is worth a first round pick, unless it's conditional on signing and even then it's gotta be a great deal.

Yeah, and nothing Tree has ever said leads me to believe he’d spend a 1st on a rental.
I feel like if we’re moving a 1st, it’ll be for someone who can help beyond this spring.

I've been hearing more and more rumblings of Eberle to CGY. No idea what the deal structure looks like.
Could be pure speculation, and I believe it has been mentioned on here maybe one or twice. It's an interesting thought. Does he have anything left? Probably. Would he be a good depth addition before the deadline? I think so.

Where oh where could you be hearing this? Only place I've seen anything about Eberle is here and it was just fan service saying they'd like him here.

Eberle would be a decent rental. I guess it all depends on what would be going back.

i think there's a couple of things he could address - depth scoring on the bottom six and someone who could help the second power play unit.
While i understand there are holes in his game, the reality is that this is the case for anyone we pick up without mortgaging the future or causing some major juggling in the salary structure of the team moving forward.

I could see the Islanders wanting Frolik..
Frolik and a pick would be my guess (2nd or 3rd).

Gotta think Frolik would be the Primary piece, NYI likely going to playoffs and gives them another controlled year on a player when struggling to bring in FA’s. Gives Cgy cap relief next season

Yeah, Frolik for Eberle seems to make sense. Obviously the Walsh tension/tweets, but the Flames also need to shed Frolik's salary ahead of the 2019/20 season as well.
Frolik + Lazar + 4th (NYI's original pick)?

Eberle being a pure rental (he won't re-sign here, nor would I want him to) and NYI being a playoff team, my thoughts are that Frolik has to be involved to replace Eberle on their roster. I'm happy to include Lazar but that's about it.
Usual caveat about +/- but Eberle's -10 is way out of whack with the rest of that team. I suspect he's an advanced stats black hole and as such, neither Treliving or Peters would want him much.

Elias Lindholm has been a minus player his whole career and the Flames traded for him. I wouldn't put much stock into the -10.
Eberle would help the second powerplay unit and could fit on the 2nd or 3rd line.

I'd rather a left handed shot for the 3L to work with Neal but who knows who they would be or if it would work.
Flames have dealt with the Islanders but not with Lou at the helm. Not sure that's a good trade partner

The Flames have billions of left-handed shots. Eberle's handedness would be one of his greatest attributes to this team.
