All these statements but have you looked it up.
5 on 5 Ice time per game:
1. Gaudreau
2. Monahan
3. Lindholm
Merit so far?
4. Backlund
5. Tkachuk
Still OK I think, now the argument zone
6. Neal
7. Bennett
8. Frolik
9. Jankowski
Still haven't seen Ryan, have you?
10. Ryan
11. Czarnik
12. Dube
13. Hathaway
You really have a problem with that enough to suggest he has his boys and there's no merit? Neal the free agent signing they have to get going. Bennett is top seven in almost every stats, Frolik and Bennett are interchangeable. Jankowski has been inconsistent.

couldn't agree more. The guy is crazy overrated on this site. He seems to get a lot of empty nets and most shifts is invisible from what I can tell.

I'm good with moving Frolik for a goalie.. if it's Frolik + to get it done, so be it. The Flames are in the window and I think they have a real shot of going deep.
But not with the current tandem.

Makes no sense. Even before this came out his contract was one the Flames likely needed to move to sign Tkachuk and a goalie while making other improvements. If he somehow survives this summer I doubt they trade him at all

Yes. You'd have to be a crazed moron not to play Gaudreau, Monahan, Lindholm, and Tkachuk as much as possible. Where it gets gray is after that. It is obvious as the nose on Tim Hunter's face that Peters has a thing for Ryan. It is inexplicable how a player that generates so little gets so much ice time on the PP. NOT EARNED, GIVEN!!!

When do you finally give up these "counting" stats? They don't amount to a hill of beans. All I care about is getting the puck in the net, and Bennett has been crap at it. He's been so crap at it that it affects his linemates point production. Bennett has NOT EARNED the opportunity he's been GIVEN. Skating hard and throwing a check does not mean he should be on a line that is counted on to produce! As the production stats have shown, Frolik is better on the second line than Bennett. Sam is a great energy player, but that is all he is. It is time to accept that. And if you're suggesting Jankowski has been inconsistent, WTF type of defense do you have for Bennett in any shape or form. Bennett is inconsistent shift-to-shift. The only consistency Bennett has shown is an ability to miss glorious scoring opportunities in tight, or get called for goaltender interference. A guy that gets so many opportunities continues to fail so hard it is painful to watch. I mean, I hope he goes out and scores a hat trick today, but I'm also hopeful that the GOP finally comes around and finds some spine to do the right thing for my country. I know both are highly unlikely, and for that, neither have EARNED much confidence from me to believe either are possible.
Neal needs a game or four in the pressbox. Maybe that will finally get him going. The treatment has is receiving is not working.

Maybe they should dial back that Gaudreau kid?
I like Ryan but not so much on the PP though. I get that options are limited, but it’s not working too well.

They scored 4 on 4. Frolik wasn’t on the ice.
You don’t see Lindholm getting any purple.

Said it in the game date thread. But I thought Frolik was great today. It was a rare game in which you get to see Neal and Frolik on the same line and I thought Frolik was by far the superior player.
He was good in all 3 zones, won puck battles, worked hard to create scoring chances. Neal on the other hand was lathargic in all 3 zones, a lot of standing around, didn’t forecheck, doesn’t win enough puck battles. It’s not surprising that he only has 4 goals this season. To lose Frolik over a guy like Neal makes this team worse.
It’s almost like having a guy at work who’s been headhunted, paid a ton of dough, comes in and ends up being a terrible employee, lazy, others have to pick up his slack but is protected because he’s part of a union.
Frolik might not be a popular guy here because of his agent’s tweets. But I see a good player on the ice who’s still working hard and playing effective hockey.

He's 10th in five on five play, 10th. That's the fourth line. That's the only thing as obvious as the nose on Tim Hunter's face.
Derek Ryan is 9th in powerplay time on the team, towards the bottom of unit number two.
He wins face offs and shoots rights which is a stated desire for Peters/Ward on the powerplay. If you can get Jankowski or Frolik to shoot the other way the rest of the season you may be able to change that.

So funny that your little diatribe of "facts" that are actually just your observations and nothing more came on the day that Bennett fed Tkachuk with a great pass for the tying goal.
Counting stats are useful information. Hopefully by the time you get comfortable with them they will have advanced a little more and provide even better information.
Goals are the bottom line, I'll never disagree, but to ignore what's happening when the puck doesn't go in the net (the other 59.5 minutes of the game) seems pretty silly to me.
And what's really funny? I'm not defending Bennett and haven't been in any way in this or the other current discussion. I'm saying there isn't a great option and because of that I can see why Peters is moving Frolik and Bennett in and out of that slot.
Not sure why the two players being interchangeable has you so hot under the collar.
Jankowski is a tire fire in his own zone. I've been saying for a few weeks that they should look at another player covering his defensive responsibilities at center when they are behind their own blueline.

Flames would then call a brief press conference where Peters walks in and calmly sits down. He then leans into the microphone and says; " I'm just going to say this once.
Purple Gatorade is for closers.". He then gets up and walks out.

It's a shame ...
I don't get the disgruntled vibe from Frolik, but I certainly understand him wanting to play second line with the 3M line as he was accustomed to. But he's the third wheel on that line, and he was last year as well and they didn't produce ... historically unlucky or a group that just doesn't finish their chances with the set of skills they have.
Thing is Bennett isn't lighting it up either, so Frolik has a better than average chance of finishing the season there if he rides it out and doesn't stir things up too much.
Have to wonder if he told his agent he was disappointed, and then Walsh said "I got this" and it became bigger than he intended.

does a deadline swap of Frolik for Cam Talbot make any sense for the flames? Flames have been just fine with Frolik scratched. i think values are probably fair on both sides and i dont know if edmonton makes this move strictly because of the rivalry and the fact it bolsters between the pipes for the flames heading into the playoffs. edmonton also needs to move some peices around to fit it under the cap but salaries are not far off. gives them a good peice for next season and Talbot is UFA, problem would be Froliks NTC me thinks.

Frolik's agent isn't tweeting about all his defensive zone turnovers that cost the Flames goals too does he?
Frolik is getting exactly the ice time he needs to be getting. There is a reason the Flames are better this season. The Flames are a deeper team, so they don't have guys like Frolik playing top 6 minutes, which translates into more wins. Frolik is a bottom 6 player from here on out in his career. There are way too many better options on the Flames than Frolik.
If Froliks agent was smart, he would embrace Froliks new role, hoping the Flames want him to play in the bottom six in the future.

Doesn’t make sense for the Oil who will miss the playoffs
They will be looking for more long term assets and will also likely require a premium from the Flames
