I thought about this too; Hitch wouldn't be a fan of a lot of the inside philosophies or jargon. He probably now see's an organization that is completely disorganized and self fulfilling,

Rob Brown: "There was zero compete"
No s***. When you draft , develop and foster a team based on the concept of "all skill/no effort", what do you expect? McDavid plays on god-given skill alone. He has never been expected to "compete" beyond that. And he's your captain! So by what example is he "leading"? He's been taught nothing about leadership by this organization, other than random meetings with sauced-up gretzky and phone-stalker Messier. He has no idea how to alter his game to find alternative ways to win. He's never been asked to! And by virtue of this, he cannot show others how to follow suit!
This stink is organizationally top-down and I hope it never changes!
Oh, and for the record, that "Edmonton Volvo" commercial is especially NG

Hitchcock legacy with the oilers will only be remembered as losing enough games to not only break into the top 10 all time in coaching loses, but probably climb to 7th.

i laughed when the comparison to VGK losing schmdt to EDM losing Klefbom.
Yeah, no doubt that Edmonton would be better with Klefbom, but VKG was a SC finalist last year...they have a ton of talent on that team too; it was just a matter of time before those players started playing better as a whole. They didn't turn it around because Schmidt returned.

lol, there's a thread in HF where an Oilers fan is requesting input of which other team he should start following cause "Tonight was the last straw!"
I need an HF account badly and suggest he follows the Flames

i seldom listen to CHEd but that was enjoyable. if they thought McDavid had a rough night getting hit, it wont get any better tomorrow with dirt bag Kesler likely singling him out.

Came across a poll on Oiler twitter about who was the better player: RNH or Gaudreau.
These dummies don’t deserve our sympathy.

Out of morbid curiosity I took a look at the Oilers roster and was left dumbfounded. There is not a single player in their top 6 that I would take. Sure technically Larsson and/or Klefbom might be considered upgrades on Kylington/Andersson/Valimaki, but those 3 players are all rookies who have shown a ton of promise. Larsson and Klefbom have hit their ceilings, which is middle or bottom pairing depending on any team not named the Oilers. I could see any one of our rookies though blooming into a top 2 guy, especially under someone as intelligent as Peters
The Oilers defense is legitimately the worst top 6 I have ever seen since I started following hockey

And they still haven’t reached bottom yet! No jerseys thrown yet. No signs hired and placed around town calling for management to be fired yet. No ex-oilers have even been promoted lately. So much further to go.
What choice do they have right now? Might be time for a rebuild.

Rob Brown was pretty harsh on Lucic. Stating that Lucic didn't want to compete tonight and the play on Lepcic was all about Lucic wanting out of the game. He started into how much he hated it when he played and a teammate who didn't show up would do something like that to get out of the game.
The other thing I wonder about is how much of a wildcard Hitchcock is in this. Is he going to bite his tongue or is he going to give his frank assessment of the franchise at one of these?

Just looked at the post-game interviews, and both Chiasson and Larsson were about to burst into tears. The problems run incredibly deep on that team. I actually did find myself liking Hitchcock more though after his candid and honest interview. That guy is fed up after 20 games. It's glorious.

For what it is worth from up here in Edmonton, more and more long time season ticket holders and fans have either not renewed or have told me that this is it for them. This includes people who've owned going back to the glory years.
There was a story a few weeks back that a bunch of the luxury boxes were sold on 3 year contracts when the new arena opened and that those expire this year. Will they be renewed?

There are plenty more 80's fans who will suck up those empty seats. Connor shall bringeth them to the promised land. And if the playoffs are out of reach there are always those sweet sweet Mcpoints.
