Exactly what I said to Mrs Root - from halfway across the room.

Ryan really isn't very good offensively at all, has no business being on a PP (doesn't matter that he's good at faceoffs) and he does lack strength but he is not lacking at all for speed.
He's actually a decently fast skater if anything.

He's also a kickass meteorologist. I wonder how much actual weather knowledge that chick has compared to him I'll take David Spence any day.
Granted, I'm a meteorologist myself so I hold my "weather people" to a rather high standard.

Exactly, but I think he can elevate his game on the score sheet, in this case, collectively by the second unit.

He followed me on twitter the other day completely out of nowhere, so unless it was a bot (and why would a bot impersonate Darrel Janz???), I'd imagine he is.
His name was always so funny to me.

I think they were blocking his view, hehe. He looked as nervous as I usually do! Shoutout to the "Airplane!" sweating gif!

Good to know! My cousin Shelly was a CTV reporter/weekend anchor for years and she said he was always a very nice man.
I wonder if he has Dutch roots, Janz looks kinda Dutch to me.

Five years ago yesterday, Noah Hanifin was busy winning the World Under 17 Hockey Challenge for the United States in my home rink.
That team USA really won me over, and I have the utmost respect for Hockey USA because of it (they were a next level, how they worked, their treatment of fans, staff, organizers, etc) zero arrogance or entitlement.
Never did I think two of those players would be leading the Flames this year.
Hanifin and another player who everyone just called "Keith Tkachuk's Kid"
Here's Noah taking the ceremonial faceoff with my wife's cousin's daughter dropping the puck.

That’s my favourite part about when we have a good team. Listening to the different ways Oilers fans try to deal with our success, it’s the most satisfying part!

That's more a result of defense than offense. We generated 0.46 expected goals and allowed 0.19 with him on the ice, so you get a percentage of 70.77% despite him not generating a whole lot. Plus, at those low numbers you can get about 0.5 expected goals in a single shot, so the difference could literally be a single play.
Stajan was the same way - he'd go a month between points but still end up at a 53% expected goals because there were no chances for either team with him on the ice.

SN posted a side-by-side production stats comparison for Lindholm/Hanifin vs. Ferland/Hamilton from the start of the season. I wish I took a quick shot of it. Very telling...
