I remember from last year's disappointing conclusion to the season that it was "Must Win!" game after "Must Win!" game. And we pretty much lost them all.

This season has been great! I don't think we've had to utter the phrase "Must Win!" yet. And we keep winning them!

This one for sure does seem like a tough spot on the schedule...but I'm approaching it from an all-upside / very little down-side point-of-view.

It is not a "Must-Win!" and if they lose the next game won't be one either.

But man are the Flames rolling if they could win this one! 2 winnable games left on this road trip followed by 6-of-7 at home followed by a 9-day break before the trade deadline and then stretch run?!?! There is no reason to believe the Flames can't keep it up. Such a stress-free and yet exciting season!

This team has played a heavy amount of back to backs in the last month or so, really lame. This will be a tough one like others have said but I think Peters will have them ready. Johnny always gets up for Boston games, I’m sure Hanifin will also like to have a big night in his hometown.

4-3 Flames win in OT

I agree that he needs to be more consistent overall but over the last 10 team games, of which he has played 8, he's been fine.

Based on my memory over the last 10 games I think it broke down like this for Sam.

Philly: Good Game
Minnesota: Good Game
St. Louis: Missed
Dallas: Missed
Tampa Bay: Good Game
St.Louis: Average Game
Winnipeg: Good Game
Vancouver: Bad Game
San Jose: Good Game
Detroit: Bad Game

So IMO if you look at the last 10 he's been pretty good, especially in the big games against other top teams. (5 good games, 1 average, 2 bad, 2 missed) Where he seems to struggle is in the "let down" games against teams below us in the standings.

And if you look at the "numbers" vs the rest of the team over the last 10 it seems to check out.

2 goals, 2 assists for 4 points in 8 games at even strength. (5th on the team only behind the big 4 in that time)

17 Shots on Goal at Even Strength (2nd)

19 Scoring Chances at Even Strength (2nd)

2 Giveaways at Even Strength (2nd fewest)

15 Hits (2nd most on the team)

51.7% Corsi For (5th on the team)

52% High Danger Corsi (5th on the team)

So over the last 10 he's actually been pretty good overall with a couple of blips against Vancouver and Detroit. I still think he needs to find a way to get up to around 0.5 PPG scoring clip, but his physicality and edge is something this team really needs.

4-1 Flames with the Boston goal an empty netter as we push for our fifth goal on the third period.

To be honest I am pretty much done with Gillies, Rittich stearolled over him, ECHL goalie Schneider has made his stats looking silly this season and Parsons will most likely jump over him as well.

I never give up on any goalie until they're in their mid 20s (Rittich 26 this year). The up and down nature of their development just says get a stable of them and hope for the best!

The thing with Gillies is when is he going to get a permanent shot with the Flames? Next year it will be Rittich and I'm going with Talbot signed for 2-3 years. I think he gets packaged up in the off-season.

If I had to bet I would probably bet on the Bruins. Back to back, smith playing who may be partially injured, and are on the road...

But still hoping for a flames win!!

Yeah. His contract next year was set up for him to be in the NHL, but there haven't been many signs that he is any more ready this year than last. If anything, his contract may mean that he is more likely to be on another team next year. Unfortunately for both Flames fans and Gillies, it's not like many other teams have the dearth of NHL-ready goaltending that the Flames do.

I wonder how much the lack of Kylington, Andersson, and Valimaki has affected Stockton's goaltending.

Yup. You never know.

McBackUp is still in the league and was sought after when put on waivers.

Laurent Brossoit has a .939 save percentage and is outplaying Hellebuyck in Winnipeg.

You just never know with goalies.

If you have to bet, you bet on the Flames every time! The money line bet on the Flames probably pays pretty well too tonight!

Honestly wanted him in a facepuncher role instead of Peluso or Prout, if he didn't decide to hang them up due to broken down hips. Hire him to do something during this window. Perhaps Special Assistant to the GM, so Conroy can chirp him about it.

Does anyone have any information on teams that have played 3 games in 4 nights for this year? Flames seem to play these stretches an awful lot, and I would be interested in seeing how we stack up with other teams.

Flames are an ugly 3-7 in their last 10 in "the garden", being outscored 37-18 over that span.

Historically as a franchise its not any better as they are 15-34-6 in beantown.

Time to reverse this nonsense.
