It’s extremely obvious at this point there is bias against the Flames. It’s not even really debatable based on the last two years. Bennett will be suspended and the Sharks will have no repercussions.

That hit is what a the Flames have been missing for years. It was a statement that they will no longer be abused .

I have never been prouder of Bennett .

This reminds me of the 04 cup finals team that stopped taking crap . This is what Anaheim has done for years .

I thought it was a tad late, though I didn't measure it according to league guidelines. I guess my only other complaint would be like Dumba on Backlund - it was when the game was done.

He worked in the league office for years, and still had contacts there. He's almost always the first person to break exactly this kind of thing.

That hit is about as defensible as you can make it. I am fine with it. We need more of this.

I think the Flames are now a sparkling 7-1-1 when Sam drops the gloves. Please give him more excuses to go beat people up. Seriously.

0.6 second difference. A little stern gimlet stare perhaps, but that is borderline. This isn't a level of 'lateness' they can target for fine penalties to set precedence.
No targeting the head. No previous history of targeting the head.
Primary point of contact is shoulder to chest. Bennett leaned down to target the chest - not jumped up to get the head.

Sam was not blindsiding either. It was a clear head on approach that should have been avoided easily, had Simek been paying attention.

He still has the puck and is looking for a play in this below pic...

Simek was definitely not paying attention. Not Sam's fault.

I loved that hit! Nothing quite like catching someone square in the chest with your shoulder. Absolutely no idea what the defender was doing there, 99 times out of 100 he has his shoulder down and it's a bump. Love how Bennett keeps his hits clean. It was textbook finishing your check in a rough game, I can't believe he didn't register the hit coming.

O thats such crap. Typical .

If the hit wasn't horrible than it shouldn't even need to be rationalized. It was clean to the chest. Kane just got a way with gooning it up then a clean hockey play should be out of the game ?

Your pounding of the drum is so thinly veiled now. I don't think you will be happy untill there is no more big hits aloud . I dont think you will be just my opinion. Even non borderline #### you have taken issue with lately.

Look I respect your worried about players health bit they signed the contracts and know the risks. If they want it out I expect them to take a hige paycut because the majority of fans don't want to see womans hockey.

Was .1 or .2 seconds late. Still clean check and he certainly Marc sure it was shoulder to chest.

Love the message

The Hyman hit that he got suspended for was .8 secs IIRC. I recall Burke saying anything over .6 is where the league will look at it. So if it is anything over .6 than there will be a suspension.

Yes. The game is 60 minutes. Play the first minute like the last, this isn’t ‘go fish’ with your niece. You want your guys to play every minute like it matters, especially with division rivals we play again.
We’ve seen years of California teams physically dominating this team. You could ask for nothing more than to see our guys show some guts for a whole game.
Keep it up Sam, we don’t pay to watch Dr.Phil analyze the emotional ups and downs of a hockey game. Thanks for showing you give a ####, as a fan I enjoy it.

So then everyone can just skate around with their head down, and any hits no matter how legal and with in the framework of the rules "arent good enough" anymore. makes sense. well thought out rational

Refs blew a goalie interference call that cost us a goal. Also didn't handle the game properly.....1 game suspension. If any more than that this league needs to wake the fck up.

John Shannon is probably well connected but I highly doubt someone from the league would tell him just before midnight on New Years eve "we're taking a long hard look" at the Bennett hit. Come on Shannon

Anyway, Bennett and Tkachuk driving the sharks crazy is a wonderful start to the new year.

just saw the Dell spear. How in the world does he get away with that?! NHL refs are the worst.

I have no problem with Bennett standing up for himself and sending a little message. It'd be different if it was blindsided or a headshot, I wouldn't defend that. But that hit? Sure it's late, but it's shoulder to chest. Hope Simek is okay.

Loved the hit. Agree with most here that the sharks were slashing and spearing all game, so a big clean hit to top off the ass kicking just feels good. Good on Bennett.
