Bennett's hit didn't seem that late.
Puck came off the stick @ 26.5 and Bennett hit him @ 25.7.
0.8 Seconds between.

Refs "game management" kept the game close-ish and San Jose scored a couple fortunate goals.

Bennett’s hit was late and Sam knows better. But I will say, had the refs actually taken control of the game and penalized Dell for the blatant slash Bennett may not have felt the need to take matters into his own hands.

Anyways that was fun!

I don’t like the hit but I’m guessing a fine at most
But it was late
I think this is very similar to the Reaves hit on Wilson.

Clearly late but no supplemental discipline.

But this is the 2nd time this year where the refs failure to officiate properly has left it to the players to handle discipline which has led to flames getting injured and suspended. I agree the league has to say it isn’t relevant but their failure clearly led to this so under the table it should be considered.

I like how Bennett didn't wait for a shark to jump him after the hit, but instead just reset and dropped the gloves immediately. That's standing up for yourself.

I agree. The key is the officials need to call stuff like the Dell spear so the concept of players needing to handle retribution is removed
Officials really fata upped the game
A classic example of a game escalating due to poor officiating

Flames can score in bunches. So many 6, 7, 8, 9 goal games!

considering the tone of the game at the time, the hit made sense to me. late but clean otherwise, not like he drilled him in the head. I dont see it as comparable to the backlund hit beyond the time remaining in the game.

So should we suspend all players for interference then?

If Byfuglien only got a fine, no way should this be suspendable. But it will be because NHL DOPS =
