There are lots of other examples of on ice incidents that led to a criminal investigation through out many levels of hockey.

Yes I’m aware. We aren’t talking about lots of other incidents though. We are talking about this one. Do you think it deserves a criminal investigation?

Even GioforPM clarified his stance as he should have. If you think this incident requires an investigation maybe hockey isn’t for you.

Even demands for a suspension were dubious at best. People get slashed in hockey. It was a little high and slightly aggressive but I think the NHL nailed this one. A fine and send a small message. Done.

Based on current NHL standards, this is a $2500 fine to the NHL. Based on current NHL standards, Gaudreau also can get slashed 21 times in one game and break his finger -- it's part of the game and nobody gets suspended or fined.

It should not come as a surprise that people on this board would like the current standard to change.

It’s not a surprise, but it’s also kind of embarrassing. It’s all sadness until a Flame goes out and gives someone a whack and gets suspended, and I bet you get the same posters out talking about how weak the game is now. Hockey can be a tough game. Hell the man who received this very slash himself when questioned about it said it’s part of the game. And he was the one who was actually hit with the stick.

What do you expect a player to say? He is always accused of whining and faking, and now you think he's going to complain after the fact?
