Simply shaking up the roster at request of Hitch or whoever. He knows he's on the way out, Lowe has been making his major decisions for him since the offseason.

Also, potentially an angle where he's doing favours like this for some potential suitors for his services (say as an AGM). Again, unprofessional, but my guess is the executive and him on the Oilers are pretty toxic right now, so what does he care about salary the Oilers are taking on, or draft picks?

We have Anderson, Kylington and Valimaki as our 5/6/7 for less than 3 million total (don’t know exact figures, but I’m guessing)

Oilers just added Manning as a for around the same amount, and had to pay for the privilege.

Puts in perspective how good/deep the flames defence is right now.

From Chicago’s perspective, they have dumped a Manning’s $2.25m cap hit for next year.

The cost wastaking on Caggulia $1.5m for next year. Since he could likely be traded for say, nothing, they basically riddled themselves of what was considered by them as a sunk cost.

And Caggulia may just be a useful player, but it’s not material to this being a huge win for the.

Manning was slated to be a perpetual scratch, as Dahlstrom has shown promise, Murphy is regaining health, and the D-corps was pretty set with Keith, Seabrook, Forsling, Gustaffson, Murphy, and Jokiharu, and Dahlstrom as #7/Rockford.

Cagguila will be more useful than the washed up Kunitz, who I wouldn't be surprised to see waived. Also, waiving Garrison wouldn't surprise me.

This is a okay move by my guys, as the Oil get our worst plus/minus guy who managed THAT in under 30 games!

And, like a good fanboy, Spector is now talking up manning as a solid player with integrity. Fom his article you’d think they just got Shea Webber. Wonder if he was singing the same tune about manning when McDavid ‘s collarbone got broken? Probably one of the guys who uttered death threats to Manning...

About Norell, the guy had generated, absolutely, no buzz among 'Hawk fans. This is the first time I even heard the his name.

McDavid has been a pushover, but eventually something will get him over the edge where he will demand a trade, why the heck would Chia even do this unless it's a plan to sabotage the team?

Because he actually thinks Brandon Davidson improves the team.

From above link: "Moments ago, the Blackhawks announced a trade involving defensemen Brandon Manning and Robin Norell. Congratulations Blackhawks’ fans, Brandon Manning is no longer our problem! Thank God!"

Chiarelli is pushing hard to make the playoffs and probably has been told by Oilers leadership that if he doesn't, his future with the team is in jeopardy. I predict he moves their 1st round pick before the season is done. Maybe for Simmonds if the Flyers continue to slump.

Yup, right. I forgot Davidson already failed to improve the Oilers.

Brandon Manning.

Final year of his entry-level deal and he has been loaned to a team in Sweden after two seasons in Rockford. That doesn't bode well for the guy having much of an NHL future.
