I would try Lindholm as the 2nd line center. Think him and tkachuk could have some magic. Also cheaper to find a winger to fit in, rather than a center. ( granted flames seem to have problems filling the rw spot).
And for gods sake Neal, you better start producing.

I always wondered why fans are so worried about players feeling on these cases.
I mean they are getting paid regardless, does it really matter where they play?

Hahaha yes it is a little foreboding. However i was speaking about the Backs contract which is in year 1 not 2.

If Tre doesn't want to spend the assests on a second line center I think it's time we took "Zebulon" off the top line and moved him into the second center spot to drive the second line. The flames offense is too top heavy and other teams know it. The issue is then who plays on the top line RW? It would be a lot easier to acquire a descent right winger then a 1b center.
Simmonds could be an option, as long as it doesn't cost a first I'd be all for it.

Or give Neal a shot with Gaudreau-Monahan for a few games and see if that does something?

I'm fine with Jankowski and Backlund as middle 6 centremen. Rather than break up the first line or spend big bucks on a 2nd line centre, I'd rather try and find the right piece to compliment Backlund and Tkachuk as the 2nd line RW, keeping guys like Bennett, Czarnik and Neal in the bottom 6 where they belong.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Backlund - Ferland
Bennett - Jankowski - Frolik
Neal - Ryan - Hathaway

TBH if Neal isn't in the top 6, he's better off in the minors. He's not a bottom 6 guy. Ferland could be interesting though, I wonder what CAR would want for him... lol

I see him as a bottom 6 PP specialist. I love the guy and want to see him succeed but he just isn't a top 6 player on this team right now. I do anticipate a bounceback, even if it doesn't happen until next season. But until then, he's gotta earn it a bit

Neal does play with Monahan and Gaudreau every game. He gets a shift with them right after a penalty is killed. They had 3-4 shifts just last night from my count. Nobody seems to realize this because nothing ever seems to happen when they’re out there to together. But the second Lindholm is on the top line, magic ensues. The top line should never be split up. That line has legitimately won the majority of games for this team this seaaon.

I wonder if Nichushkin would be avaialble.
Bennett for Nichushkin could be a good hockey trade for two struggling high picks.

Why would we want 0 goals, 5 assists Nichushkin?
That'd be a huge downgrade.

2013 First Round draft pick. It's only a matter of time.

He's been really snake bitten this year. Unlike Sam, he doesn't have hands of stone. Has all the tools.

That's really not a lot of time to build up any chemistry. And I doubt they practice as a unit at all.
I don't disagree that splitting up the top line isn't optimal. But I still think Neal hasn't been had consistency in his linemates.

I doubt players' feelings are as tender a second sometimes is speculated. But on the other hand, whether or not they are being paid a lot doesn't matter much. If I'm a coach, I'm doing whatever I need to do to make the team win. And some players respond differently to different treatments.
Neal has to be frustrated at the very least. At this point it's mental, IMO. So Peters has, IMO, licence to do whatever is needed to get him going as long as it's not to the detriment of the overall team. If this means elevating him undeservedly so be it.

Boy, would not trade Bennett for nichuskin. What? No.
Bennett is looking at being a pretty cheap player this off season, and he is one of the only forwards who can actually lay the body. That's a game changing bottom 6 quality.
Flames need to be adding, not subtracting.
I don't know what the deal is with Czarnik. He can't seem to get into games regularly which is probably what he needs to show his stuff. But on the other hand, he doesn't seem to really ever show that he should get more opportunity to play.
Flames need a couple forwards I think, one top 6 and another either top tier fourth liner or a decent third liner. That's what I would be targeting as the team approaches the deadline.
I might look at the rangers, a deal for Hayes and Fast.

So that he can run back to Russia after 1 winter here, and we’re left with nothing.
Has to happen now to make sense.

Yeah, I was on the goalie train up until November. I believe in Rittich.
At minimum I think the Flames can easily dress average goaltending, so adding to the top end forward depth would really push them over the top.
