Flames were dominant for first 30 minutes, but after mid point of second period the Canucks were the slightly better team IMO.
Which is odd as I really thought Flames were going to put them away emphatically.
Another game where getting nothing from Neal hurts. He’s definitely better than Brouwer, it’s just that Brouwer didn’t have five more years of contract.

All said, could've been worse first game after Christmas. I expect a sharper effort from some guys on Monday. Peters does have to figure out the bottom 3 or 4 and have the guys play. Dube played 7 shifts in the 3rd after 4 combined in the first 2 periods.
Czarnik, and Ryan very little, Hathaway should get some more time stirring up the crap he does. Canucks not good low in their own zone and Flames. got two penalties down there.

They put this guy on the jumbotron with a "lost fan alert"
Got booed and laughed at by the whole arena. Was glorious.

I'd like to see this for the next game:
Gaudreau - Monahan - Neal
Tkachuk - Lindholm - Frolik
Jankowski - Backlund - Dube
Bennett - Ryan - Hathaway
Giordano - Brodie
Hanifin - Hamonic
Kylington - Andersson
Rittich

I don't think Tkachuk is infallible, but it's weird how he's not connected on these blind passes and having his poor games when he's out there with bennett.
Just a really weird coincidence i guess.
Also weird how he doesn't seem to have that issue on the PowerPlay, where he's a key reason why the Flames have 23% powerplay.
I'm not saying it's bennett's fault, he's being played out of position, but to me, it's a clear indication that the Flames are desperate for second line scoring help if they want to do damage in the post season, or even just maintain their spot in the standings to secure home ice in the playoffs.
They really need a second line player.

I'm not going to blame the officials in this one, especially since the 2 SHG are a pretty solid FU in that dept.
That said... being subject that level of inept officiating has to be a human rights violation.

You want Neal to play as a 3rd defender? Because there is no way he is keeping up with those line mates...as evidenced by every shift after a PK when he does play with those guys and it’s just awful.

Neal and Frolik are much higher in that lineup than is merited by their play IMO.

IDK, I think he's been better lately. He's getting a metric ton of shots and I think he just needs to play with better playmakers.

Flames are an amazing 11-4-1 vs the Central (with 3 losses to the Blues and Stars) but just .500 in the Pacific. For whatever reason this team struggles against divisional opponents and lesser Western opponents in general.

I don't love Frolik on the second line. I think I would rather see jankowski there if he's not playing centre.

Yes but despite a slump they’re still picking up points and a currently tied (with one more GP) at the top of the Conference. There’s a big difference between a slump being 1-2-2 (us) and 0-5-0 (Edmonton). That is the sign of a good team.

Which is a worrying sign, as the Sharks are quickly closing the gap in the division.

The disallowed goal was ridiculous. Being on the building you couldn’t hear the whistle or anything so it was infuriating when they called that back.
Vancouver should have felt lucky getting one point let alone 2.

Miscues happen during 3 on 3 all the time. It's why the Flames have have had great success in OT. You got the feeling the Canucks were going to win this one as they were the better team in the 3rd period. It's not on Bennett that they lost as there were worse forwards tonight.
