I thought it looked a bit embellished. Even if not, Johnny has that reputation so I’ll be surprised if there’s further discipline.

While it was a d**k move by a player who is above-average in the number of d**k moves per season department it was just a slash and worthy of a 4 minute penalty.
I like most of the efforts to remove the ridiculous stuff from the game but I am old-school enough to think that if that was suspendable then there would be several suspensions a night.
Next game against the Jets, get a solid lead, wait for late in the game and hack him. Just enough to say we remember. Some of the old ways are good

What should the retribution be for Hanifins knee to Hellebuycks head then? Just wondering, since you're talking about old school justice.

It could have been a penalty, but clearly it wasn't intentional. Pretty big difference, wouldn't you say? Or are you really that big of a homer?

Oh I'm just wondering how old school justice works. Just asking questions.

It looks no different than many slashes you see everyday. It got 4 minutes as was clearly justified, but it's not close to being a suspension. Many of these types of slashes get 2 minutes only.

I rarely listen to Jock Wilson, but it's clear when I have that he has a personal vendetta against the Flames.

He must have had a pretty acrimonious parting of ways from his time hosting the Hot Stove Lounge on 66 CFR.

Suspending players using carbon fibre spears as weapons instead of playing the puck like they are supposed to? The horror. What would we do without players randomly swinging their sticks at each other?

How is this better than a rival team losing one of their top players for multiple games for being an unbridled moron?

Dirty but this always happens. Johnny needs to be the catalyst for equipment manufacturers to come up with a step change in protection. They just regurgitate the same equipment year after year. Better fitting, still light weight, more protection over unprotected areas like joints, but more mobile.

JC.
Hanifin tried to jump over Hellebuyck to avoid hitting him, and in doing so, accidentally clipped his helmet with his knee. It happens.
He didn't 'knee him'.
A re you seriously comparing that to Buff swinging his stick at Gaudreau intentionally? Are WPG fans this whiny all the time?

Or, people don't hit each other needlessly with their sticks?
I don't think other sports adjust their equipment to cheap shots. They punish them.

Yes.
Nothing new mind you.
Winnipeg sucks, always have and always will.

Who’s “Jock” Wilson? And is that his real name or is it some sort of 80’s radio DJ sports schtick?

While there was no injury, that's still the exact type of play that needs to leave the game forever. There is no value in that, and unless they do start suspending, then there will never be a way to change players behaviors. For as much as there will always be gray area regarding head hits and body checks, this should be something simple the league could say "that is not part of our game" and then there is precedent for the next time.

He's been around for a very long time here in Calgary.

That's a good question about his name. I've wondered it myself.
