Bad result but it didn’t look like much in the way of intent.
True but they don't want blindside hits or hits to the head. Carelessness isn't an excuse. Just like high sticking is a penalty all the time (as long as it is noticed) you have to be in control and aware of your surroundings. The honess is on you to be safe and not wreckless or careless.

So, he's not playing against us on Monday. I like it.

San Jose plays 3 games before they play the Flames, so he'll be playing.

I don't have a problem with the suspension. I have a big problem with the consistency. There have been worse hits thrown with no discipline handed down. That is the issue. This same play will happen in the next couple of weeks and they won't even look at it. DOPS and the officials all need to be overhauled.

Reason: way overboard?

I wish that they would actually be consistent on this, but the Tom Wilson blindside hit only garnered a 5-min misconduct and ejection, and Dumba’s hit on Backlund got a big fat nothing.
It feels like the NHL DOPS just throws darts blindly at a board full of random numbers to determine what hit is punishable.

Don’t see difference between this hit, Kunitz hit on Hamonic, and Martel hit on Stecher
This gets 2 games, Kunitz received a 5 min major, Martel got a 2 min minor
