You'd have a hell of a time beating the value in this sound bar IMO, especially in your price range. I'm sure there's options out there in your price range, but it'd be hard to find within the same range and that extra $50 off is sweet.

I convinced my buddy to nab this one around Black Friday. He loves it, his wife loves it and he's wandered around and agrees with me that it would probably cost 2-3x the price of this sound bar to find something that's a significant upgrade to this 5.1 sound bar.

Has anyone come across any great Boxing Day sales for a simple surround sound system?

I’m moving across the country in 3 days and we’re leaving our built-in system and receiver behind. I’m looking for a simple replacement to get me started in the new house.

I like the look of the Vizio mentioned above and may very well go with that. Unless, like I said, anyone is aware of a smoking deal on something else today?

fwiw, I just got back from Memory Express.

Extremely well organized. Everyone had to line up and wait for the next sales associate. No general browsing allowed. Line moved quickly. No having to worry that the sales person you're waiting for will be poached. No additional lineups for the cashier afterwards.

This was the South Edmonton location. Not sure if other locations are employing the same strategy, but they should.

Very helpful and seems like a great deal. Picked one up today - will report back!

Same. I ordered the p65 on Boxing day for that price. Still waiting for them to ship it though. Hopefully I won the panel lottery.

Yah me too. Well I ordered on the 19th and was delivered the 21st.. but I’m moving into a new house on the 12th so I haven’t opened it yet. Thought it would take till January to be delivered. I’m just hoping if I need to return or swap it they have stock.

Nice.

Wow that was a quick turn around. I guess they're closed until after NY because I haven't heard a thing. Hopefully I get it sooner than later.

As of yesterday they still had 54 in stock.

Congrats! I think you'll be happy with that system. It's not without fault though, but the value and features you get at the price it sells at, you can generally live with its quirks.

Also, if the sound gets weird, just reset to default and start over. I don't know why, but it seems easier than some other sound bars to get wonky sounds if you screw up a setting. But once you find the settings you like, it's a really good entry level system.

Was $259 the price you were talking about when you posted this or has it gone up since? I don't see $50 off anywhere.

Trying to decide what to do with my basement home theater. Currently have a 720p projector on a 120" screen, which is fine for night time stuff but 720p is getting old.

So either a newer projector, or maybe a 75" screen. It's not 120" and I'd miss the almost theater experience but I could move the couch a bit closer

Was $50 off for about a month. Ended Jan 3 I think.

Ugh I’m still in need of a subwoofer for my theatre room. Can’t decide on a model.

I'll be replacing my 720p projector very soon with an Optima UHD51A, just as soon as Amazon drops the price back down. I had space for a 96" screen, and have about 11 years on it. Time for an upgrade to 4k.

There was a $50 off instant rebate or something for about a month which expired recently as Weitz mentioned. It seems like that $50 rebate is not longer available.

Amazon sells them for around $300. Sometimes refurbs show up for around $220-250 on their site.

Off the top of my head, I think I saw that the rear speakers were around 25 ft for speaker wire from the sub woofer when my buddy set up his set.

Yeah, the Vizio 5.1 set is definitely a value buy, but I also feel that this 5.1 sound bar punches significantly above its weight class in terms of pricing.

If the sound is a little funky, I definitely suggest looking up some of the settings suggestions online to tweak that sound bar system to see if you can iron out some of the most obvious sound oddities (if you get them). Easiest is to just reset all settings to default or factory settings. I did the same thing with my set after being stupid and dealing with weird muffled voices for a while. Adjusting basic settings didn't work, but resetting everything to default did. That and playing with some of the TV/PS4 etc settings like PCM vs Surround sound options.

Apparently there are also settings that can cause the following:
- Minor crackling noise (change to direct input setting)
- Excessive bass (bass setting or reset to factory settings)

IMO, this sound bar is really good akin to finishing a hand of poker with triple jacks. It's a strong hand, there's a ton of options out there that are superior to that hand, but to beat it, you're likely relying on a 5 card combo to defeat it.

Lol, that's an interesting analogy there, DoubleF.

I think anytime you're setting up an external sound system, there is some tweaking to be done to get it to sound right. Can't wait to see how easy or difficult it is to do with a full on receiver and speakers in a true 5.1 or 7.1 system.
