Boring game. I hope that kind of effort doesn’t happen often. Oh well.

Peters has done okay.. but if he continues to play Smith, its his fault and should get his ass canned if the Flames falter down the stretch.

I think they took this game a little too lightly, expected an easy W.
Can't win in todays NHL only scoring once.

Not even mad at Smite. He's an older goalie that's done. It's up to the GM to give the coach better options and it's up to the coach to make better decisions about the two he has. Starting Smith was not the "smart decision" as was claimed in the game day thread.

Team is slumping. Haven't been good for some time now as they did come to play Thursday but the efforts against the Oilers, Stars, and Blues have been amongst their worst of the season. They should be up for a game like this at home trying to maintain a division lead against a struggling team. Instead they came out flat and weren't prepared to play from the opening puck drop.
Also it appears Smith is done. Not sure how the team is going to deal with this but it appears he's not even serviceable in a backup position as he lets in soft goals nearly every start and there's too much parity in the league to be spotting teams goals every start. We saw today that the Flames offense can't be counted on to overcome soft goals every time this guy starts.

The rehabilitation of Mike Smith is a failure. Time to ride Rittich as far as he’ll take us, see if another backup option is available. 1-2 bad goals in 9 out of every 10 games for Smith.
Disappointing to get 1 of a possible 6 points in the last 3 games.

Losing the season series to teams like the Stars and Blues is pretty frustrating.

Agreed on that. In the same way that a team mired in a losing streak starts to look good (even in losing) before the streak snaps, the Flames (even in winning) looked bad in a few games recently, including the ones you mention. The Tampa game is an exception though that shows what they're capable of, suggesting that their bad play is the product of their mentality more than anything. Hopefully Peters can get them to fix that.

The game was over the second the Blues scored their 3rd. Team looked absolutely deflated after that goal after dominating all second period.

There were three wins in between that oilers loss and the stars loss including a 7-2 win on the road.
Not fair to lump that loss with this current string of losses they currently have going to call it a slump.
They lost last game in a skills competition to best team
In the league in a game they could have won.
At worst, they’re in a mini slump but certainly nothing to be concerned about.

We should have scored more than one goal. There were plenty of chances and no finish this game. Johnny had glorious chances, Neal should have potted one, lots of good scoring opportunities especially in the second. Smith wasn't good per usual, but you still won't win a lot of games by scoring once. It's time to snap out of this slump. Luckily we're not the only team in the west that is slumping right now, and hopefully we can stand our ground.

Flames effort as of late has been concerning. Not an ideal way to go into the holiday break.
Smith was bad but the Flames really didn’t have the third period we have come to expect.
