Being an afternoon home game, it’s not surprising the flames came out flat, that’s why you don’t start Smith.

I never said they needed to go to Rittich. I’m just saying that by not doing it they weren’t ignoring some sort of hot streak by Rittich.
The Flames have come out flat for Rittich too. Dallas. Vegas. Edmonton.

I am going to call you out here. You are usually silent whn Rittich plays well. Then he loses a game when flames are playing 3rd in 4 days on a trip while he gets zero scoring support, then loses one in 7th round shootout playing against the best team in the world. How in the world he gets a blame for losing these two games is beyond me.

I don't know how anyone can be an apologist for Smith anymore at this point. Great for the six game win streak...but he let in many soft goals. Flames win because they seem to be able to score more than Smith let's in. It's a different, better team playing in front of Rittich. Smith just spots the other teams way too damn many soft ugly goals, then the Flames have to do the stern chase for the whole friggin game.
Not that the team came out with jump and played great in front of Smith, but Jesus, just watch the replay on that first goal, as many times as it takes, until you see how crappy it was.

Understood, but I would say Rittich has been playing excellent. His rebound control and tracking of the puck has been superb recently.

I liked her little comment about Johnny timing his pass for the split second when the D moved his stick.

To be fair, I just tuned in with about five minutes left in the first. Thanks for telling me about that.
Also, Versteeg is fantastic on the panel.

Rittich is coming off a sub .900 game and they are playing a low ranked team. I’m very unsurprised that Smith started. He was definitely bad on the first goal. But I still say the Flames skaters also played badly leading to that goal. Smith made a couple close stops and the Flames blew chances to exit. Similarly the second goal was because of a failed clearing on the PK.
Flames have this one though - they’ve woken up.

Rittich was bloody outstanding and single game sv% is bordering on useless as a stat.
The one was going wide but went off Monahan’s toe, Brodie scores the next and Hathaway deflected one.
He was a beast.

Calling me out? LOL. I said he played well and I never blamed him for the losses. And I’m never silent about his good play - check those GTs.
