You're not really going out on a limb there GioforPM... ;-)

McLotteryBall has been in on something like 48% of all goals the Coilers have scored this year. Not on the ice for... but recorded a point.

Coiler fans may make fun of other teams for being a "one line team" but Edmonton truly is a "one player team". Drysaddle can't run his own line and is basically an average to slightly above average center without McDingleNuts. Nuge is a meh second line center to good third line center. The rest of their entire forward group is poo. Their best defenceman would be a 3-4 on a decent team, and the rest of their defence is poo. They have a hot goalie right now, but overall their goaltending is meh. Their AHL depth and prospect pool is meh at best, poo at worst.

Oh, and they are a cap team with no relief in sight.

hahahahahahahaha

Assuming Rantanen re-signs for $10M AAV, would you rather have Rantanen/McKinnon at $16.3M per year, or McDavid/Draisaitl at $21M?

Mackinnon has 120 points in his last 82 games. He's still signed for four more years at 6.3M. Short-to-mid term, there's not a non-ELC contract that comes close to that.

I can only imagine.

The funny thing is that his Ranger teams didn't start to do anything until he hired Jeff Gorton as Assistant Manager. This is the same guy who Drafted Kessel, Lucic, and Marchand while signing Chara in his brief stint as Bruins interim GM.

Of course, Chia fired him so he was free to go to the Rangers.

Slats could have tipped off the Oil that Gorton was the one who assembled the bulk of Chiarelli's teams in Boston, but then that would also make him acknowledge that Gorton did the real work in New York as well and that it wasn't the second coming of Glen the Genius.

But I thought the whole league would trade their roster for Edmonton's at the drop of a hat?

Only if their roster includes the Old Boys Club as well. And Chia

Hmmm...one in a rebuild and one a self proclaimed cup contender. 1 point says that they are the same!

Just in time for Christmas, the Oilers have dropped out of a playoff spot.

And just like that Edmonton gets what they wanted for Christmas again this year. Now they can get back to worrying about McDavid winning the scoring title again and work on that draft lottery ranking.

Couldn't shop the dumpster to Oilers dreamsicle orange? CP should develop a prototype of the "dumpsterfire centerpiece" and Shark Tank it. I would think this would be strongly supported and would immediately go into production. Seems like that would be a massive seller up in Shelbyville. Seriously, no trailer would be complete without a seasonal mini-dumpster fire centerpiece!
