Is it? I'd really hate to find out it wasn't coincidence or ridiculous and made a big trade for him only to find out he doesn't play like perceptions are, he's a difficult guy in room, or a tough guy to match up with. There are just some guys that never amount to the sum of their parts and it affects the team negatively. RoR has always been a guy with so much promise and a tantalizing skill set that should lead to success, but his teams never perform. Add in a $7.5M price tag, and there are way too many danger signs with this guy.
The only player off the Blues I'd be interested in right is Maroon, and only because the Flames might be able to fit his contract into the cap situation, and he can play multiple roles for the hockey club. It likely doesn't matter because our cap space means we're unlikely to be a player in the trade market, not without sending a big contract the other way. We don't have any big contracts we can really dump.

ROR might have a curse or maybe he sold his soul or something.
Need to stay away.

This is kind of neat. Boomer talking to Friedman right now and apparently the Flames had a deal with the Blues going for Dougie Hamilton before he was moved to Carolina. I knew about the Flyers deal that didn't work out but this is the first I heard about the Blues.
Reason that came up was because Boomer was hesitant to suggest there was actually something to Treliving watching the Blues/Oilers the other night.
Doesn't really add anything current for this thread, but was fun to hear. They didn't mention the players that may have come back. There was a slight inference I guess that they may still be looking at the same player(s) from St. Louis but nothing outright said.

I remember Oiler fans saying similar things about Justin Schultz and now he’s a 2 time Stanley Cup winning champion.
Slotting is everything.

Edler has made it abundantly clear that he has no interest playing hockey in any other market outside Vancouver. I believe he has a NTC which he will undoubtedly not hesitate to exercise in order to stay in the only NA city he and his family want to live.

Yeah I heard that today as well and that was right after Boomer was talking about Brayden Schenn. I took from that he could have been the centerpiece of the deal for Hamilton?
Because he would not be a pure rental if we could pull off Jankowski, 1st, Frolik for Schenn that would be an o retesting deal that would make our lineup very dangerous.

The ship has likely sailed given Schenn's contract but that would make sense given they went after another C/RW in Lindholm.

The Blues made moves over the summer to shake things up and that did not work. I could see them hitting the reset button and moving a few guys that are not locked in long term which is why the names of Schenn and Pietrangelo have been floated out there.
The Blues May be looking for picks and younger players to reload but I don’t think they would be looking at a full on tear down especially since they have a 1st rounder they owe to Buffalo this year or next. The discussion around a Schenn trade could very much have changed between the summer and now

Yeah, but yesterday AM Treliving also said he had been trying to acquire Lindholm for a long time leading up to the trade. I don't think the Carolina trade was "Plan B"—he likely had a bunch of deals involving Hamilton that he was working on simultaneously. In any event, I think I am happier with the younger, possibly better Lindholm than I would have been with Schenn.

It would be great to know the specifics of the Blues blockbuster. I can’t see myself liking any deal from them that would have been better than the one we got from the Hurricanes. I wonder if it was Schenn and Parayko? Boomer/Friedman implied that the Blues kept trying to get more and more out of the Flames and they ultimately moved on and did the Hurricanes deal

If the Flames are still deadly two months from now, a rental does make some sense. Especially if it gets that third line and second PP scoring. Think

His teams were already bad before they got him. In the Avs case they were immediately worse without him. But, what about when he's on a good team? We just going to overlook the 2011-2012 team that finished with 112 points...and O'Reilly lead the team in scoring?
You know who else hasn't had constant team performance including some really bad teams....Giordano, Gaudreau, Monahan....and pretty much every player in recent history except Lidstrom because it's a team sport.

Anyone think Couturier could be had? 4 more years at 4.33M.
Maybe something like Dube, Frolik, Kylington, 1st would do it?
Jonny - Mony - Lindy
Tkachuk - Couturier - Bennett
Ryan - Backlund - Neal
Czarnik - Janko - Hathaway

Ur looking at Tkachuk if u want Couturier. He is the closest thing to Bergeron we have right now.
