Another poor showing for Neal where he actively hurt the Flames. I'd feel better with Dube taking his spot, at least the kid shows a solid effort every night

I think Neal is too damn slow to fit in with this team.

Just not a fit and is being misused. Should try to trade him.

There's no way any GM takes that contract without an equally bad one coming back. Neal is likely going to end up as the worst signing of Trelivings career just due to the term

....but but but, look at the standings...can’t we all just be happy?
Neal’s contract is going to cause the flames to get rid of valuable assets in order to keep Chucky next year. I could swallow that pill if he were scoring 20 goals a season. But he’s not. Plus he’s the worst +/- on the team, how is that not hurting the team?

Worst +/- on the team but he is not hurting the team? It’s painfully embarrassing to listen to you Neal apologists defending his performance so far.

No kidding. It’s actually hilarious to me that the team is first in the division and people still choose to ***** and moan about certain guys.
I don’t know why it’s so hard just to enjoy the success so far. If the Flames were struggling and not in a good spot, by all means have at er but we are still a really good team even with guys struggling that are typically 20-30 goal players.

How though? 36 games in is not a start anymore. It’s basically half the season. Wouldn’t we have seen some signs that he’s going to explode by now? There’s been nothing. Look at tonight, huge game, playoff atmosphere and Neal’s line was one of the worst peforming tonight. Difficulty making plays. Not enough awareness or poise on Tampa’s 4th goal. Shootout attempt was stopped. Would’ve been real nice for him to get that to wake him up. But what are you gonna do i guess.

It’s not a binary construct. Some of us can walk and chew gum at the same time. We can be both happy for the team and critical of a criminally underperforming player.

What’s the point of having a forum then? Even Lightning’s posters are currently complaining about this game and they won and are also the top team in the league by a mile. It’s perfectly fine to be concerned with a disappointing player who’s going to cost this team $28M over the next 5 years. The easiest choice is for one to not even click on this thread if they know exactly what’s going to be inside it.

I'm pretty sure it's been said in this thread, but why can't posters discuss James Neal in a thread devoted to James Neal? Everyone knows his stats and everyone knows what the discussion is going to be about. If it bothers you so much, don't read it.
Maybe if it were a James "Fricken" Neal thread it would be positive enough for you?

Too be fair it is no different than Jiri and you when fighting is brought up. Pot meet kettle.

Can’t believe you’re able to walk and chew gum at the same time, a true inspiration to us all.

Who is defending Neal? Certainly not me. There are a pile of other things to talk about on this Board. Variety is the spice of life. You should try it.

There are a lot of posters talking about James Neal among the several terrific stories surrounding the Flames right now. That's great. What isn't great is posting only and exclusively about how terrible James Neal is while simultaneously ignoring everything else about the Flames. That is just lame.

It's completely different. Jiri and I are quite happy to discuss all sorts of different things other than fighting.

My goodness, if people venting about Neal, who is having a terrible season, in this thread really bothers you (not pointing at anyone specifically, just whoever) that much then just stay out of the thread. Better it be done in here then in the PGT or some other thread.
