Excellent effort by the boys, and a well earned point against a very good hockey team. As far as I'm concerned, the Flames proved that they can go toe to toe with the best team in the league, and I'm super proud of their effort tonight. A Cup final between these two teams would be one hell of a series.
It's a bummer we couldn't put it away in OT with all those chances, but give Domingue credit. Dude was a brick wall.
I thought the Flames were the better team for 2/3 periods tonight, not to mention our PK going 4/4 against one of the most lethal PPs in the league. Domingue basically stole it for the Lightning.

Why didn’t Peters send Monahan out again can you not do that in the NHL after the first three?

Rittich has the best GAA of the 3, better save percentate than Domingue, and has played more then either
It's safe to say that the Flames have a goalie. Smith as a backup may be ok to deal with.
|
Throw Smith in the mix and tell me what's up.
Domingue has played a LOT this year with Vasilevsky being injured for a spell. He's saved their season early on and is still playing amazingly.
I'm just annoyed that Smith cost us at least 3 wins this year and we could be right there with TB.

I loved the commentary Versteeg gave between periods. I hope SN makes his a regular.

Agree. Just keep 3v3 going until someone scores. Way more entertaining.

Domingue stole that game. Should have been 8-4 after regulation. Gaureau was the best player on the ice. Shame that had to end with a shootout.
If the Flames play like that all the time they win 9 out of 10 games regardless of opponent.

Watch something other than Flames games. You'll find plenty worse players within an hour or two.
He's struggling, no doubt, but I don't like throwing guys under the bus when things are going wrong. He's fighting the puck, and all players go through periods like this. I still think he gives us some important goals and games this year.

That was just a great hockey game. So much fun to watch. I wish the league would go to a 10 minute OT though, 3 on 3 is so much better than the shootout.

Hard to be mad when losing still puts you 1st in the conference.
We've played well enough we can afford a little 1 point in 2 rut. Especially when you see how they took it to Tampa for stretches of the game.
Tampa got both the bounces and calls and still had to swim with us out to the deep end to take it on the back of a lot of fortunate plays.

I love that Peters threw Neal out there for the shoot out. It would have been soooo good for him if he won the game there. Too bad it didn’t work out but I appreciate the attempt.
