Oiler fans worst nightmare. Not making the playoffs and Mcdavid not winning the scoring race.

Powerplays 5-2 in their favour and the greaser fans are still bitching about the refs.

5–3, but yeah, Oilers fans and media are pathetic, blubbering whiners.

You can have all the powerplays you want but it's not going to matter when Glue Gun is running it.

Oilers whining about a goal call in a game where they lost 4-1 (and their own goal was debatable)

Which is really silly. The puck was underneath the goalie pad which was inside the net. Some are arguing that Maroon's stick pushed Talbot's pad in the goal, but to my eye he carries the puck through the net under his pad when he intentionally moves the right leg inside the goal from one side to the other.

Hitchcock and McDavid Singing The Blues

Cam Talbot (26 saves) stands tall in 4-1 loss to St. Louis.

Oiler fans jumped out of their seats twice Tuesday evening. Once when Jesse Puljujarvi continued to show the world why the Oilers drafted him near the top of the first round, by sniping his third of the year past Jake Allen to tie the game. Tabbing an assist and first NHL point on the goal was rookie defenceman Caleb Jones instantly putting him on a path to be a future number one defenceman. After the game Edmonton media mogul Gene Principe claimed Columbus blueliner and Caleb’s brother Seth Jones would be asking for a trade to the great Edmonton hockey market in short order to play along side tonight’s 3rd star.

Fans jumped out of their seats for the second and final time of the night just 32:35 later because the game was over and to get a jump on those long bathroom lines.

It was a big night for Connor McDavid (0G, 0A, -1) finally drawing eight penalty calls out of the referees. Many while sitting on the bench in front of Oiler legend head coach Ken Hitchcock (823 wins). Unfortunately many were against his own team but Connor (23:42 TOI) continued to put his speed on display flying up the ice on many occasion causing the Blues to take notice. Take notice the Blues did that Connor only flies one way, going on to put up 4 goals at the other end of the ice.

When asked about about the controversial goal awarded to St. Louis after a long review in the 3rd period, Edmonton goalie Cam Talbot (.897 SV%) responded “It was in but they can’t be giving other teams a lead against us when McDavid isn’t on the ice. It just isn’t fair.” Oiler apologist Drew Remenda chimed in saying “Hitchcock should be coaching these goalies to hide the puck better when it’s over the line.”

While the team was in the dressing room pondering the loss following JP’s big night, the following conversation between legend coach Ken Hitchcock and seasoned GM Petey Chiarelli was overheard in the hallway.

Hitchcock: “Hey Petey I was wondering if we could look at some roster changes?”
Chiarelli: “Sure Kenny, what were you thinking?”
Hitchcock: “Have you thought maybe we could look into replacing Milan?”
Chiarelli: “I know, Lowe, Mac-T, Katz’s kid and I have been working the phones since mid summer trying to find a suitable trade.”
Hitchcock: “Oh, ok. That’s not that long then. It’s only been 4-5 months. I’m sure something will work out soon.”
Chiarelli: “Oh no not this summer, mid summer of 2016.” <long pause and varied breathing> “His deal is essentially unmoveble.”
Hitchcock “Weren’t you the GM...”

Hitch then walked away mouthing “What the ___!” before attempting to get on the St. Louis team bus. In the background Peter Chiarelli, Kevin Lowe, Craig MacTavish, and Daryl Katz were seen wrapping Milan Lucic in snowman wrapping paper and stuffing him under the Rogers Place Christmas tree.

The Oilers have four days rest before they are back in action Saturday night versus another team.

And the hallucinogenic cloud of the new coach effect is dissipating.

2nd game in a row where McDoofus wasn't a factor and their goaltending was merely average. The result? Another loss. Gee, what a shocker.

Haha Staples blocked me on twitter for saying this, "Mcdiver has drawn 2nd most penalties in the league since he entered. Maybe if oilers had any depth, teams wouldnt focus soley on him." In response to one of his tweets about the officiating and McDavid.

What a tool.

Amusing how much crying the Coiler fans are doing about the refs last night. The only goal the Coilers managed to score was offside, yet allowed to stand. The PPs were 5-1 in favour of the Coilers at one point, and at least 3 of those calls on St. Louis were weak.

Coilers were out chanced, outplayed, out hustled - yet one controversial goal call and "boo hoo hoo the refs are against us". Game should have been 3-0 St. Loo.

It's good though. Hopefully the team buys into the refs hype - change nothing Coilers, everything is perfect. Keep playing the exact same way, you just need to complain more about the reffing - that's the only change you need to make.

Some things never change. Edmonton is just no good.

A 6 game Coiler losing skid to close out 2018 will be the perfect Christmas gift for me and it looks like it's happening!

I remember him mentioning that there was a life change (job I think) and doesn't have the time for those epic write ups anymore. Too bad, those were a great read in the morning.

I listen to Edmonton radio on my way to work in the morning. I heard all about how the Oilers "lost on a controversial goal call". I literally thought they lost by a goal. I only just saw now that they lost 4-1! Good Lord Edmonton fans (and media)! What a bunch.

the local media coverage between us and shelbyville is astounding

the flames are one of the top teams in the nhl right now and you would think its 2012 with the amount of pessimism and looking for controversey around goaltending/james neal/etc

edmonton on the other hand has been a cup contender for the last 15 straight years, but the league conspires against them

Does anyone have the results of the fan poll of how many goals the Oilers would win by?

I understand the Oilers' plan now....they're just going to keep firing coaches all season long so they can ride that 'new coach bump' all the way to the promised land!

With their next game against the Lightning the Oilers could drop three in a row and the Oilers could have a nice panicky Christmas.

Not even Katz kid can save Christmas for the Oilers
Nobody can
