It’s corny, but I don’t think I’d mind his schtick nearly as much if it wasn’t focused on breathlessly praising the worst organization in major league sports.

I think Principe is creepy right down to his soul glow grey hair but if you have watched Oilers broadcasts over the last decade this is pretty typical shtick. I actually don't think it's that bad as he's done more cringe worthy stuff and his player interviews are among the worst in the business as he always tries to get opponents to compliment or discuss the Oilers.
Teams are learning that they can just focus on Mcdavid and not have to worry about any other player on the Oil. Plus with this Hitch whining and making it more obvious how frustrating it is for them, teams will just do this more and more. It must suck having no depth whatsoever.

He's only elite when moving the puck through the neutral zone and then cutting to the net. If he's put into a cycle game, he's "merely" a really good player, but probably not even on the level of Gaudreau or some of the other tight space stickhanders out there, or elite shooters like Petterson, Monahan, Scheifele, etc. If you funnel him to the boards, don't both following him around the net, and clog the slot when he goes behind the net, he can be contained. Will he throw one to the middle that goes in? Sure, maybe, like last night. But give him his assist (and second star) and score more than a couple goals, you beat Edmonton.

I couldn't even get through 12 seconds, how he moves his thumbs on the joysticks . . . That has be disorienting at best and vomit-inducing at worst. WTF is he playing

I've noticed that too, off the rush McDavid is probably the most dangerous player in the league, but in the cycle he's far less noticeable. Way less dominant along the boards than Crosby, and he doesn't have that heavy shot from the circle you need to worry about like with Ovechkin. I actually wonder how effective he'll be down the road, as he relies on his speed so much and that's the first thing to go as players get older
C'mon, at this point you know Principe is having fun with it, and why not. It's sports and he's been living in toilet town so long he's gotta entertain himself some how.

The hilarious thing with Hitch's crying fit is if the refs started calling everything that he wanted them to call, it would be a steady stream of Oilers going to the penalty box due to their lack of team speed and their system.
So go ahead, call a couple of more penalties for McDavid's benefit but be prepared to get called on every similar play that the Oilers do.
Besides Hitch, you're 17th best powerplay and 25th best pk kind of show that you don't really want to get into a special teams battle with more teams in the league.
