7 of the Flames next 8 are against western teams. An important stretch of hockey to say the least.

Because you don't get given it, you earn it.

In OT the exact same situation happened, from the same angle, and Rittich stoned the Flyer because he kept his paddle on the ice and square to the shooter.

The third goal could have been prevented with an active stick, but a lot of goaltenders get beat on that anticipating the shot more so than the pass. I give him a bit of a pass on that one, even though it looked like pass the whole way.
Just because a goalie "could" have stopped a shot had he done something different doesn't mean it's a bad goal. You could say that almost every single game for every goalie.

I think you're thinking of the Flyers first goal as the second one beat Smith glove side on a rebound. The first was pretty similar to Chaisson's goal on Rittich the first game against the Oilers. Had he had his paddle down he could have stopped that too. But that doesn't make it a bad goal.

I thought we made a new thread for this kind of talk?

I’d like to see Andersson get more PP time too, the only problem with him is he’s slow so there could be lots of Pk chances against. They need to make sure there’s another defenceman or forward who can skate to cover for him.

Makes sense to me to replace Ryan with Andersson and have two defenceman on the second PP. Maybe even Kylington, who can really shoot the puck too and can obviously skate.

Brodie/Andersson
Hanifin/Andersson

Use Brodie or Hanifin as the "Gaudreau".

Then Jankowski/Bennett/Neal up front. Jankowski and Bennett can retrieve and go to the net. Neal can shoot - either side - they can rotate.

Probably not two raw rookies. Yet. But both Valimaki or Kylington down the road. Jeebus the future on D looks nice.

Pretty cool. Here is the full season leaderboard for age 35 defensemen. Giordano is already in 26th. Bourque and Lidstrom were the only ones at a point per game, Zubov was close. This list is all-time but it's basically 2 guys from the '60s (Pilote & Stanley), 2 from the '80s (Park & Robinson) and the rest are '90s and later.

What's up with that nonsense?
Quine definitely deserves more minutes.

Quite is putting upward pressure on the guys above him. Perfect. That's what a prospect should do. And Peters is prepared to go with the hot hand in a game.

Stark contrast to GG

If you're worrying about defensive coverage on your PP, you're doing it wrong.

Exactly. We had Wideman back on the PP. You a player that can get the puck to the net. Andersson has shown he is capable of that. I find it funny that he has been a staple and contributing when the net is empty, but hasn't been given PP time.

Yes, to help prevent PGTs from being flooded with nothing but complaining about Smith. And it worked. That doesn't mean that talk about whether certain goals were bad or not isn't allowed.

The post I responded to was made after the goalie debate thread was made but you didn't have an issue with that.

One of my favourite things about the Flames comeback wins this season has been Rasmus Andersson.

He's been absolutely clutch. The Flames have tied games late with the goalie pulled in Colorado, vs Washington, in Buffalo, and vs Philly. Andersson has been on the ice for all 5 goals, and at least involved in the play at some point prior.
