Both the Hawks and Jackets win to vault over the Yotes in the playoff race.

Jiri, I wasn't even mean to you in my "Twas four nights before Christmas" poem, where's the love????

It may be time for a poem update.......

As Paul Raisen is the new GM of the Sharks,
http://cphl.calgarypuck.com/gms.htm (Man that's funny who did that, Jiri?)
I don't think he is thinking about your Panthers as his Sharks lost 5-2 to the Preds.

Poor Mr. Raisin.

Leafs get a W. Big win going into the break. Beat a conference opponent who's ahead of us in the standings and Lundqvist finally played a decent game this season. Leafs defense has been bad all year but tonight we finally held somebody to under 3 goals.

Blues outlast the Habs

Daigle keeps the hot streak alive with a goal and an assist and the game winner in OT as the Blues beat the Habs 3-2 in OT. Hasek was solid making 28 saves on 30 shots. Look for the Blues to get some rest during the x-mas vacation as their vets need it for the playoff push!

Hawks go off on a high note for the holidays!

Special teams were the key tonight. Richards with a shortie, Kotalik and Hossa both with PP goals. The PK allowed only one goal on 10 Wing tries.

YAY!

Habs hit OT again - get a point but lose. Rolston scores in his final game as a Hab.
Tkachuk - for Christmas we give you a set-up man. Perhaps then the Habs can win a *&%$^& overtime game. 1-5-4 in OT is not acceptable.

Jackets take down the Thrashers 6-4 on a night where everyone else that we're chasing or who is chasing us in the standings wins as well. Mike Ricci was finally able to get back in the lineup and the stability helped the top 2 lines rack up a few goals. Miroslav Satan broke out of a recent slump with 2 goals and an assist, and Pierre Turgeon, Christian Erhoff, and Cory Stillman all had a goal and a helper. Adrian Aucoin tallied the other Jackets goal and Scott Niedermayer chipped in with two assists. The Jackets trailed 1-0 after 1, but erupted for 5 goals and 18 shots in the middle frame and held on for the win in the third. Joel Bouchard scored his first two goals for the Thrashers and Keith Carney and Tomas Holmstrom also tallied for the Southern birds.

The win moves the Jackets ahead of the Coyotes by virtue of more wins and kept them one point ahead of the 9th place Predators who are on the prowl. From 3rd to 10th in the Howe you have a separation of 6 points and 3 points from 5-9. Despite a 7-3 record in our last 10 games we have picked up zero ground on the 4 teams within 2 points of us because they two have 14 points in their last 10 games and we're all sitting on 39 games played. Looks like this is going to be a close one right down to the end of the season.

Thanks, Jussi! Nice to start the holidays on a positive note. The Canucks will take this win, rest their legs and plan for the rest of the season.
