Reiterating my statement earlier, we can all agree that Smith is done? This guy should not be our starter. Love the guy as a person, human being, but as a die hard flames fan living in Vancouver... jesus christ boys, he is not our number one... period.

Johnny was flying tonight! He was everywhere and one of the most magical players to watch!
Another couple funny face gloves from Tkachuk and moving the dropped goalie stick around on the ice before returning it.

The shot from the hashmarks tonight for a goal, the pass to Gaudreau in OT. It just seems like he is reaching another level with his play.

There are some who question his foot speed but he looked pretty good there in overtime!

Just caught the highlights, what an awesome finish! So much of what made this team fun to cheer for back in the first Hartley season feels like it's back along with a much more structured defensive game. Is it really possible to have the best of both worlds? The Flames are a very likeable and easy team to cheer for right now.

It was hilarious watching Chucky try to get under the skin of Gudas. Guy is such a pest, and I love it.

#1 Goaltender

Drunk, broke, bagged AND missed the game but heard down by two late in the third. Caught the game in 30 and get to lay down happy with a win? I'll take it. Nice job boys.
It would be nice to not see the Smith debate constantly though. It is getting tiresome.

get used to it...goal tending is kinda important
our own GM says the name of the sport should be "goal tending"

I find it annoying how Wills, Loubo, and Steinberg go out of their way to praise Smith for even thr most routine saves, rather than admit that Smith is not a guy you can win with anymore.
And before people start piling on, I never cheer for anyone getting hurt and hope Smith can come back soon. I just think it would be better served if Smith can just become a strong backup for the team.
|
I don't think there is anyone on here who holds that opinion.
I'm defending Smith in that blasting him after 1 game, while ignoring his last 6 is just stupid.
There are clearly fans on here that hope he sucks just for their vindication and would rather the team lose than have him winning games.
Over the course of his work, I agree he is not up to the level of this team and isn't the option we want going into the playoffs.
Clearly his days as a #1 goalie are passing him and we need better, but there's a difference in acknowledging that and hoping he sucks more.

No, he's a whipping boy to many. Even when he gets through a game without letting in a bad goal they have to find something to bitch about. It gets pretty silly sometimes.

This. ^^^
I'm not saying Smith is good. I'm saying it's like posters are dismissing his good games unduly just because they can't accept he had a good game.

Bull####. There’s 14 other games of evidence this year that showed that he clearly doesn’t measure up. There no ‘I told you so’. I’d love for Smith to be good. Unfortunately he sucks and it’s frustrating that the team seems bound and determined to prove otherwise. Saying he sucks has nothing to do with ego, it only has to do with the stark reality of the situation. He’s terrible. It’s plain as day. 6 games didn’t vindicate him, clearly.

Na, it’s just pointing out the obvious. Way more ‘I told you so’ posters over his 6 games of good play than there is of people pointing out what is obvious. Took 6 good games to get his average to 894. He sucks, bad.

No one is talking about "vindication". His six wins in a row were six wins in a row. He gets credit for them. He gets tagged with his losses.
One side of this debate only wants to look at his losses, and wants to dismiss his wins. The other side is looking at each performance.
The team isn't trying to prove he's good. The team is playing who they think will win. He just won six games, and was getting better with each win. Rittich hadn't been winning and didn't look as good as he had earlier on. It's not surprising they started Smith again.

The do nothing and get an A is a very well known meme. The best version I've seen was Peyton Manning after winning the Super Bowl 3 years ago.
