I thought his SO against Minnie was pretty darn dominant.

Oh, and the funny thing is that with all the Bob Cole talk from Sunday, I recently watched the highlights of the Flames/Devils game he did back in 2014:

You know, the one where the Flames scored twice late with the goalie pulled, and eventually went on to win the game. Like, when does that ever happen?!?

I get home and it's tied at 5. They scored the OT goal even before I could get my shoes off. What a comeback!

Any word on Smith? The guys on the panel said he didn't come back on the bench in the 3rd and they figured he might be injured.
This was almost the carbon copy of my evening. It was 4-3 when I tuned in and had to fill up with gas, then I discover that the PP they were on led them to a short handed goal against! I was so angry and ranting at Smith without knowing any details then I hear the Anderson goal, then the tying goal and got home just in time to see the break up the ice and the OT goal.
Magic!

This was a great moment. The atmosphere in there was insane.

For a player who's obviously struggled with confidence and results this season and who got bronx cheered at home tonight? I'm just saying it opens the door that's all.

Once again, read the dozen plus posts in this thread that are mentioning it. It's clearly on a portion of the fanbases mind's.

They could have easily blew the Chicago game if not for him in the third.

He might not have been "amazing" through that whole stretch but he was better than many of his critics on him give him credit for. You don't always have to stop 40 shots to have a good game.

I was in the dome that night, it was just bonkers. I imagine it was just like that tonight!

I totally agree. Flames have dominated most of their wins. An average goalie would have won those games.

Still not buying that theory, Smith has been very professional during his time here, right up to being a mentor for DR. I doubt that he wouldn't have taken his place on the bench to support his team mates.

I'm not buying it at all.

By not being right, it could mean a lot of things, a injury that he was trying to fight through, a illness, whatever.

I mean I know that the thing is to villify the guy because of his struggles this year, but I doubt that he would cut his own throat.

Oh and I doubt Bill Peters who's a bit of a hard ass would let him pull somthing off like pouting in the back room.

This. Someone mentioned that Smith plays better when he faces a lot of shots. Well in many of those games the Flames won, the play was rarely in Smith's end for him to face shots.

He came up with some timely saves but that is expected of goalies. You have to make big saves too, not just the easy ones.
