Rittich was put in a tough place when he was put in cold to start the third period. Break away in the first minute.

And then he had to make a huge save just before the winning goal.

Didn't seem to phase him.

Smith isn’t hurt, his ego is. After the dome gave him that sarcastic clap I actually Thought I caught him out of the corner of my eye as the puck went up the Ice lift one arm up in the arm acknowledging the mock cheer.

Streaming the game and my laptop needed its charger at the 7:30 mark. I almost said f*** it. But then thought, no... there is time.

So glad I kept watching.

Peters doesn't concern me at all. I give him a lot of leeway in his decisions, he's earned it.

I don't mind most of his decisions. But I really, really, really don't like him being so stubborn with playing Derek Ryan as many minutes as he does. At all.

I hate that.

Looked to me like Smith had a groin issue... Probably the main reason why he didn't want to stretch out completely on the first and 4th goals.

Then he should have not played.

Then it was probably not the best decision to start him.

NHL Public Relations @PR_NHL
Tonight marked the third time in @NHLFlames franchise history in which the team overcame a multi-goal deficit in the final two minutes of a game to win in any fashion. Calgary joined Pittsburgh as the only teams in NHL history to accomplish this feat on three occasions. #NHLStats

Smith if anything has been the consummate professional here.

I'm not making any narrative. Read this thread and the game thread. Posters have brought those things up already. I'm just saying Peters could have just got ahead to it and said he's injured...or he's sick...not just saying he "wasn't right" and has no idea why he wasn't on the bench.

Really? I swear Henrik Zetterberg alone has done this to us like, four times.

On pace for 290 GF this season.

Tampa led the league by a decent margin last season with 296.

Or maybe he was injured in that collision with his teammate - can't remember who it was.

Yeah, Smith was not good, but the fact he wasn't on the bench in the third period smacks of an injury or illness. I'm not a fan of Smith as a goalie, but there's no way I'll believe he said, "Screw you guys, I'm taking my ball and going home." No team would keep a guy who did that.

It was noted on the radio the emergency goalie was gone from the press box.
