If backs is hurt and Lomberg gets a game who are we calling up? Obviously Czarnik comes in but do we see Lazar return for fourth line centre? That would make most sense to me
When there was about ten seconds left and the game was in the bag I was hoping one of the Flames was going to give Dumba a two-hand he wouldn’t soon forget.

Lomberg obviously wasn't out there in the last minute before the hit
use your brains guys
They were up by two. Lomberg played a good forechecking game. I wouldn't have minded. Peters had already put pretty much everyone else out with the EN.
You know Lomberg wouldn't have passed when in the clear.

Or Dube. He's probably a better centre, although Lazar has been playing really well according to Maclean.
I would juggle it differently to avoid messing with the top line right now.
Johnny and Monny are good enough to carry Neal for a bit. Lindholm is as good as Backs defensively to have line #2 not skip a beat. Normally I'd say don't break whats working but there is no one else who can do the lifting that Backs does. And Beast will still have PP1 time.
I do think the hit was boaderline, I also think the refs calling by the book on lomberg was pretty puzzling considering the events prior to. Also the Kassian on Tkachuk was worse and he didn't get a fighting major. Refs typically go out of their way to not call the instigator in that situation.
Hope Backs is okay. Holy hell is Smith playing better. Great job by the goalie coach working him back into form. Huge 2 points.

Guy, Backlund got hit...it was obviously his line on the ice at the time
It seems like the team is way better at receiving Smith passes than last year. Last year he'd mostly be passing to a stationary guy. Now it leads to a play a lot more.
So, when Gio was in the box for the Koivu hit, and Koivu was out in front of him nattering away, Gio shrugged his shoulders and said....? what? Was it "wanna go?" That's what it looked like to me. He didn't look like he was challenging him, just asking him if that would make him feel better. lol

Stalock in net against a Flames team that averages > 4 goals/game at home.

1 minute in and the flames haven't scored yet
so far so good

Jesus Christ this game is terrifying.

our forwards ...so careless at our blue line

Pretty sure it should be like 10-0 Flames 8 minutes into the game. Boys better wake up.
Quote:
The Flames look like a team that is feeling it. I think it is more that than the Wild playing badly (although they are being outplayed). Lucky to get out of the period 0 - 0.
Quote:
Cool, we hung in there for the initial onslaught and actually wound up outshooting them Bring on P2!

Wow, well that was an active first period for no goals. Holy crap.

CAL is the better team right now. Hopefully this is one of those games were we play like ****, but win. Sort of like what TOR did to us.

God this team is below average.

Eh.. there at least average. Calgary’s real good

That helps, but the Flames are still owning this game so far

I'm not sure I can put this into words or explain it well enough but I had a feeling Stalock would get this game...I get this feeling it could be a 'weird' game. Calgary scores a ton at home. Feels like Stalock can handle a 'weird' game better than Dubnyk could.

I said it before, I'll say it again - Flames and their fanbase are the biggest, babiest bitches in the league.
Booing after literally every penalty called against them, then they all start crying when their entire team tries to hack Dumba then sucker punches and tackles him from behind. This after King Baby Bitch knees Koivu to take him out of the game. Hacking and hooking all night, this is the fanbase that STILL cries about Suter slashing A GORILLION TIMES.
Hope both of those ####ers get the booked tossed at em, but we know that ain't ever gonna happen. Poor Calgary is always the victim. They should be called the Calgary Martyrs.

I am just shocked at the play of mike smith He has been vezina looking tonight.

I guess, but who knows at that point, with Peters, and with Bennett having a less than stellar game. And with line changes. They were rolling pretty quickly. I know I saw Mangiapane and Ryan on together earlier.
