Tre deserves a lot of credit. Saw the problem and found a solution.

Jermain Franklin @TSNJFranklin
No definitive update on Backlund but Peters did say his centre went to the quiet room following the Dumba hit in the final minute of the game. #Flames win 2-0

8-1-1 over the last ten games, points in the last nine, sitting comfortably on top of the division. Man I could really get used to cheer for a team this good!

Peters in the post-game just bleeding sarcasm:

"Must have been a clean hit since there was no penalty on the play."

Also, he's clearly pissed about the missing tripping call on Backlund on the empty net chance.

It actually played out in a similar way to Kassian jumping Tkachuk, except Lomberg didn't really try to keep feeding Dumba after he turtled.
For a second I hoped he'd just just get a roughing and avoid the instigator.

Backlund better be ok. He may not be scoring a lot but he is playing some tremendous hockey right now, and both him and Frolik out would not be great, no matter how deep this team is.

Brutal hit to end the game. Head was the main point of contact super clearly even though he was low to ice still should have been a call. Dumba is a tool. Never would have happened if the refs didn't blow the trip on backlund with the empty net.

I think it was very similar to the Cam Fowler knee on knee incident. Both were not intentional, and ended up being far nastier than they should have been. Gio is not a dirty player.

New gameday tradition

Jermain Franklin @TSNJFranklin
Smith took a shot to the groin area during morning skate this morning. When asked if he would take a shot on the stones to get a shutout every time. His response "100%!" Smith with his 38th career shutout. #Flames
