Who is sadder? The woman claiming to be psychic? Or the people stupid enough to believe in that garbage?

Can you say, without doubt, without question, 100% certain, that those types of abilities do not exist?

He was a fireman... we all know firemen have nothing to do with water. Nothing at all.
I'm surprised the vaugeness that these "psychics" display didn't catch on this one. That's the catch, they're never specific. They let the victim, I mean the person wanting to talk to the dead lead them.
Although I still dig whomever's sig that talks about Dion, and always predicting pain. Classic.

Great satire from SNL on "psychics":
http://snltranscripts.jt.org/01/01cjohnedwards.phtml
John Edwards: Welcome to "Crossing Over". Before we begin, I must stress again the importance of remembering the details that come from these sessions. Specifically, the things that don't seem to make sense at first. It's imperative that you remember everything I say. Okay. I think I'm ready. And.. I'm going over here.. in this direction.. right here. And someone over here, I'm getting a J. A J.. a woman with a J connection. Who's got a woman with a J? [ no response ] Maybe K? K or J? A woman with a K or J. [ no response ] Or.. R? K, J, R.. or F.

I am trying to determine of you are actually serious with this statement. I don't think so but one can never know on this site.

I think I can. There is a $1 million prize for anyone that can prove they have paranormal abilities. No one has come close.
http://www.randi.org/research/index.html
At JREF, we offer a one-million-dollar prize to anyone who can show, under proper observing conditions, evidence of any paranormal, supernatural, or occult power or event. The JREF does not involve itself in the testing procedure, other than helping to design the protocol and approving the conditions under which a test will take place. All tests are designed with the participation and approval of the applicant. In most cases, the applicant will be asked to perform a relatively simple preliminary test of the claim, which if successful, will be followed by the formal test. Preliminary tests are usually conducted by associates of the JREF at the site where the applicant lives. Upon success in the preliminary testing process, the "applicant" becomes a "claimant."
To date, no one has ever passed the preliminary tests.

*Gasp* A psychic caught in a lie, especially such a wonderful moral person like Sylvia Browne? Can't be...

Here learn how to do it.
Cold Reading
Quote:
Cold reading refers to a set of techniques used by professional manipulators to get a subject to behave in a certain way or to think that the cold reader has some sort of special ability that allows him to "mysteriously" know things about the subject.
|
There are couple example cold readings in there that are general and vague but seem so specific for a person when taken at face value. Clever stuff.

As far as me being serious or not... there was sarcasim in there. I don't believe that she knows what she was talking about, but when she said water, and the lady said that her husband was a firefighter... any other show, any other firefighter who didn't pass on 9/11... that would have been close enough to continue the "connection".
I do however believe she is more than just a crock of ****.

Ok you go ask a physic why they don't predict the next winning numbers for the lottery, and if they tell you "I don't need the money," ask them what charity couldn't use one million dollars, then see what they say to that.
