Cold Reading

Cold reading refers to a set of techniques used by professional manipulators to get a subject to behave in a certain way or to think that the cold reader has some sort of special ability that allows him to "mysteriously" know things about the subject.

There are couple example cold readings in there that are general and vague but seem so specific for a person when taken at face value. Clever stuff.

As far as me being serious or not... there was sarcasim in there. I don't believe that she knows what she was talking about, but when she said water, and the lady said that her husband was a firefighter... any other show, any other firefighter who didn't pass on 9/11... that would have been close enough to continue the "connection".
