Okay. So report back to us then. Feel free to quote this page and rub it in our faces. But soooooo many other things will happen between now and 4 years from now. It’s not worth worrying about unless it’s part of your job description.

I, on the other hand, am pumped that the team is leading the division and Neal hasn’t even kicked into gear yet. They’ve been lucky with injuries up front, but have depth to shuffle around if needed. Currently, the team is clicking, and glimpses of Neal’s offensive abilities have me excited for the long season ahead.

Asserted without evidence. Lucic is making more money, signed for a longer term, playing worse, scoring less, and he has done all that while spending significant time on the top two lines. Neal's biggest problem is that Lindholm and Bennett pushed him out of the top six and he has been trying to manufacture goals off the playmaking of Derek Ryan, who has been having his own issues this year.

No team should have a 5.75 million player playing on the third line and not scoring, unless they have added said player at the deadline and are only paying a portion of his salary as a rental.
Right, because no team ever had a $5.75 million player who went through a slump.

How many times has a player added at the deadline been a difference-maker in the playoffs? Go ahead, if they're so common you should be able to name dozens of them.

I’d take a James Neal type as a 3 month depth rental for a playoff run...not a 5.75 million over 5 years anchor around the teams neck.

This wouldn’t affect chuckys new contract (or cause associated lcollateral damage) and would only cost around 2 million in cap space, allowing the Flames to also add a rental d-man to cover/replace someone on the 3rd defensive pairing.

As it stands now, we can’t because we are a cap team.

So you think James Neal is a difference maker in the playoffs?

That sounds like a guy who could give us a genuine cup run.

If Neal actually got his lazy arse moving the Flames could've gotten 10 last night. What a bum.

Lucic has been bad for an extended period
Neal has been bad for 30 games after years of consistency
Comparing the two is premature and silly

You add depth at the deadline as potentially there are 28 games to play once the regular season ends. If you have cap space at deadline day, you’d certainly sign Neal...put him in the press box and use him as insurance in case a superior 4th line player likes Dube goes down injured

So we’re bringing in back Elliot in net for 2.5 and a cheap back-up

I need a full season to judge the signing. I was 100% for it at the time as going by stats and experience, Neal was one of the best UFA RWs available and something we needed.

Neal has always been a streaky player and has been playing bottom 6 ice time almost all season. If or when injuries hit and he needs to move up, there will be a huge opportunity. Also, if there is a post season opportunity, that is where some players really show their worth. He has a lot of playoff experience which will hopefully come in handy.

Hamonic took an entire year to settle in and show us the player we thought we were getting.

So I'm willing to give the rest of the season for Neal to show he can be a player outside of the top line.

Moaning about it 30 games in accomplishes really little, as there isn't a trade or move of any kind coming with that price tag, and the team is playing well anyway so why nit pick when we can enjoy the ride (for once).

Neal has had a slow start but he has the pedigree to suggest he'll recover.

To give up on a guy 7% into the life of his contract is ridiculous.

The Flames have roughly four million dollars in deadline cap space.

You’re not listening.

We can trade Stone. There is nothing to panic about right now.

Stone or Frolik, Brodie or Hamonic. One of each pair should be moved out this summer.

Um, I don’t see Stone being traded, given the situation

No way Bennett gets 3.5 unless he really changes things offensively. The flames should be able to dump stone or definitely frolik in the offseason too
