As noted, clearly interference. Basically the same hit as Wilson put on Seney.
The thing that annoys the absolute #### out of me is the colour guy describing it as a "blindside hit". I think Holtby said the same thing. That is no longer a rule. It's not a relevant concept. It hasn't been for years.

I guess the question is that if it wasn't Wilson on the receiving end, and say Backstrom, would the fan reaction be different? Of course.
I guess the thought is that even though Wilson was in need of some tough love like this, it doesn't get Reaves off the hook. His having to police the league, because the league can't police itself, puts everyone in an uncomfortable situation as what to do next.
I say he gets a call and a fine.
|
A fine for what? The hit was a bit late but it was a clean hit. If you want to watch no contact hockey go find a ringette game. I am seriously tired of people whining about every hit. The kind of goonery Wilson is known for is fine to get out of the game but it is and will be a contact sport, get over it.

Reaaaaally holding us back.

lol no kidding.
Not to mention that not playing into the Oilers goonery was exactly what won us the last BoA. Guys like Tkachuk and Backlund getting under McDavids skin causing them to move Lucic to that line and neutering him entirely.
Guys really want Reaves on the ice in that situation to 'defuse' Lucic? Sounds great but at the same time you're also putting him out there with McDavid on the ice. Not so sure I like that matchup

And Tom Wilson is a classless player. Don't compare me to an oiler fan because I think Tom Wilson deserves everything he has coming to him. A guy whose main goal is to hurt other players deserves to get hurt back.

I love the first hit. Nice solid hockey play. but the second hit is disgusting, just straight interference and leads with the elbow.
Reeves is just as dirty as Wilson.

Reeves gets a standing ovation from me. I don't recall Reeves using hulking size to blindside smaller players as Tom Wilson has done. He is not a dirty player.
Wilson got caught in the crosshairs, and he has hit way too many players much smaller than him like Reeves just did to him.
That's the way the game goes buddy; a taste of your own medicine.

Well if the NHL doesn’t want to properly police Wilson’s dirt, the players will do it themselves.

Ryan Reaves Destroys Tom Wilson not once, not twice, but three times! Wilson DTD

I can think of a lot more classless players this league has had than Tom Wilson.
Still doesn’t mean you should cheer for him injuring his brain. You do you man.

One poster literally said someone needs to do it again because he was able to get up off the ice.
Poor taste.

I never said anything about wanting him to suffer long-term effects from this, but the longer he isn't on the ice trying to hurt people, the better for the entire league.

Looks like Reeves gives him a bit of a slewfoot after the first hit too.

If it were anyone else, I would feel bad. For Wilson I don’t. That’s the exact game he plays. To me, feeling bad for Wilson getting hit like that would be like feeling bad for Matt Cooke for getting hurt on a hit. Play dangerous games, win dangerous prizes.

Once you’re known for doing it, players expect it. Like Reaves said post game he thought Wilson took a look and he knows he’s going to get hit by him. So he gives it maximum effort. If that was Backlund, Reaves isn’t expecting contact and doesn’t make that play.
Even if your argument is that Reaves was hunting him all game. Of course he was. Based on the last year there is about a 1/10 chance that game Wilson takes out a Vegas player with a hard shot. Reaves isn’t going to let that happen, and makes himself the target, and the deterrent, all game.

A protagonist is just a main character

A protagonist is a hero
An antagonist is a villain
At least that's what I remember, school was a long time ago though.
