Most of the Oiler comments in the ATL were actually flattery.

This honestly surprises me. Who has more wins when trailing after the first period?

The stat I heard that blew my mind:

5 goals scored in a period by one team.
Flames: 4 times
Rest of NHL: 3 times

5 Giordanos =/= 5 (almost equivalent to one Giordano)

Where did this team come from? Wow.

Last year felt like what Burke said about the US playing Canada in the semi-finals at Sochi. "We could have played 10 periods against them and never scored." (Or something like that)

I walk into the airport - it's 1:4
I board the plain - it's 6:5
I land - it's 9:6!

I guess I've just missed another boring game...

Don't look now, but Mark Jankowski suddenly has eight points in his last 13 games, and six in his last seven.

He was way more interesting when he tried to pick a fight with Hartley. This Tortorella sounds reasonable and boring.

Actually what I liked about Tortorellas interview was the fact that he did not chalk it down to lack of effort, which means that we scored nine goals on a pretty good Columbus team with the foot on the gas. That's definitely something.

Rewatched the latter half of the game and I don't really know what Sam did to get benched. In the second period he was ok... tried to negate on icing on a long shift they were caught on, then was tripped and drew the penalty on same shift. After that was on the ice when Hathaway made that poor pass to turn the puck over for the breakaway goal... but nothing there was his fault. He wasn't dynamic out there but I didn't see any glaring mistakes.

Curious what he did to get benched, unless Peters just decided to go 3 lines.

I think that was exactly it. Benched Ryan, Bennett, and Hathaway?

If you rotate Bennett in it probably causes more confusion for the changing hybrid line he's subbing on. Easier to bench an entire line than 1 or 2 players.

I predict the Oil are gonna be so distracted running around trying to hit Tkachuk that they'll forget to actually play their trap-style game, and the Flames will end up lighting them up by 6 or 7-0.

I feel ya, lived out there for years when the earth was younger. These summaries are free from the NHL, get their app on your phone or Roku or whatever you use. You can also look into streaming games, Reddit is your friend.
