I fully expect them to rush McDavid back into the lineup immediately for next game, even if he's still sick. And then if they lose again, they'll have a built in excuse just like the mysterious month-long illness he reportedly suffered through last season.

When including McDavid and Draisaitl the Oilers roster is still brutally paper thin. That's what is so hysterically funny in all of this.

I know Hitch is just there to ride out the year, but man he seems frustrated already. Especially with the media asking questions when he is clearly pissed off at the play in front of him.

Has Hitch ever coached a team that was this no good?

Oiler fans were over the moon when T-Mac was fired because they were convinced that T-Mac hated Poolparty and limited his ice time and line mates. But tonight with the Miracle man not playing due to the sniffles, Poolparty had 13 minutes of ice time and 2 shots on net. Clearly there's something that these coaches don't like from him in terms of practice.
In 4 games since his call up he's had 1 goal, is a -1 is averaging around 11 minutes a game and has 5 shots.
Everytime I watch him I'm just not convinced that his brain works fast enough for NHL speed.

Dillon Dube just picked up 3 points in 2 games. Lazar is better than Yamamoto, for goodness sake.

Just saw they played Draisaitl 25:25 in McFlu's absence. This is the stinkiest team the NHL has ever seen. Absolutely reeks of desperation.

Moment to savour....
Seguin making fun of Kassian's mouth breathing....Kassian responds obliviously with continued mouth breathing resting face.

Great comment from an Oilers fan "This Jekyll and Hyde team...if Jekyll and Hyde both sucked."

Was listening to the 630 Ched post-game “show” on the way to my own game tonight, picking it up pretty good on the ol’ AM dial...
Some degree of recognition that there’s little depth on that team beyond McDavey & Goliath, but mostly bitterness that he couldn’t play. Brief mention that Dallas also had a tonne of injuries (and still managed to win) but then focused shifted to St. Louis and their woes (next Coil opponent), to make Coil fans feel good about their chances. Announcers kept saying that Dallas’ first two goals were complete flukes. Only one guy took the players to task for not stepping up with increased minutes (not sure who). “Audio highlight” was Khaira’s first of the season ( ). Show ended abruptly because, you know, Oilers lost, so, pouting.
Wish I could’ve listened to the call-in show, but missed that portion...

If this last resort of playing Hitchcock-trap hockey fails, which it will, you have to think Chiarelli will be shown the door. That would indeed be a sad day for us as Flames fans.
Right now is really the best of times in a way. The Oilers are playing incredibly sad and boring .500 hockey while effectively shutting down the aspirations of getting McDavid to the top of the scoring race. All of that while noone is doing a single progressive thing to deal with the multitude of issues that is holding the organization firmly rooted at rock bottom. The team is currently suspended in a no man's land where they are neither good enough nor bad enough to really do anything, so everybody are just waiting, and what more could we really wish for? It's the epitome of no good really.

Could also be “Fire Me” which is equally funny.

Yes we absolutely cannot afford any big losing streak here, even now the Oilers stink and Chia's job is in jeopardy as it is.
We need that man to continue carrying out his vision.
