I heard that he's releasing a new album as well. I wasn't much of a fan of his in the 80's, but suppossedly he was pretty successful as a song writer.
Piece of Trivia - originally he was asked to sing the song Danger Zone for Top Gun, but turned it down to focus on his own music and the next choice of artists was Kenny Loggins.
Second piece of Trivia - Spielberg wanted him to screen test for the role of Marty McFly and Hart turned it down to focus on his music.

Calgary is really getting skipped on this one, as Judas Priest is also going to Saskatoon, Dawson Creek, Prince George, Kelowna and Abbotsford.
getting passed over for tiny places like Dawson Creek?
any metal fans out there really have to get to the concert. it's going to be so friggin good.
but yeah. if it's a small venue tour maybe they figured to have one huge show in western Canada to make a few bucks and cover the Calgary/Red Deer/ Edmonton people.

We are not getting passed over by those places.
Secondary tours are extremely common for mid level acts like Judas Priest. Sometimes bands do tours of the places that never get stops on the major nationwide tours.
This has nothing to do with Calgary and nothing to do with the Dome.
If anything, it is clear that Edmonton is a third rate ####hole that they're on par with Saskatoon and Abbotsford in the hierarchy of tour stops.

What's up with Dawson Creek? I've seen a few heavy metal acts that have come through Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and Dawson Creek. Is it a heavy metal concert town?

They have a really nice event center that is decent sized and draws from a pretty good sized population (NE BC and NW Alberta).

Alice in Chains will be at the Grey Eagle on April 12th.
AIC is my favorite band of all time but I have barely listened to any of their new stuff without Layne.
Going to see Cantrell would probably be worth the ticket price alone since he is obviously a HUGE part of what made AIC so good.

Their new stuff is good, too. Duvall is terrific live as well.
